So my Inifity LTD is on its way. I need to vent so I thought I'd share this story with everyone on here since you guys are like the warwick loving family I never had lol.

So the bass arrived monday UPS. Bastards didn't knock or ring the doorbell. I took the day off work to get this bass. Anyway, the next day I was officially off was a thursday so I arranged for delivery then.

So Thursday comes and I'm excited, what happens? This time after getting up at 7am and waiting near the door virtually ALL day, no one comes. I call UPS at least 5 times that day. They say that the delivery is in progress and its listed as urgent but they are testing drivers in my area. Then I see a UPS truck just driving around my area but keeps skipping my street (I wont get in to how I find that unusual but it is) and I call back. They say its probably for someone else. Anyway, day ends and they dont come.

SO I call and say I'll be at work the next day so deliver it there instead. SO I wait all day anxiously going back and forth from my analyist station. At 2pm I call and they say it was delivered to my home not my work address and that I missed it and they can't go back out a second time. They also say that no matter what, I wont be getting it until at least Monday. Also to top it all off, they say that it's being listed as a 3rd attempt (which tells me that they the truck I seen the day previous WAS INDEED my truck and he just missed my house and called it a day) so now thay are holding it and I have to go pick it up despite not having a car. This bass cost me 4000 US which is more in CAN funds and 150 shipping plus 186.45 for customs/ GST. Absolutely rediculous.

However I have worked at a call center for 2 years and Know its not necessarily the representatives fault. They tried. I could tell, and getting angry with them will only get them angry with you making them to NOT want to help you. At least thats how I felt 2 years in. So I dont know what to do or who to blame. I can't necessarily pick it up, and I just moved here (across the country from Nova Scotia) so I have no family or friends who can help. I should balme myself I suppose for not going ape Sh't on the customer service rep but I guess whats done is done.

/ rant

Anwyay thanks for reading if you did indeed do so. I dont want pity or sympethy but I assume anyone who can put themselves in my shoes after reading this would be angry no doubt. Anyone else have horror stories from UPS?

wow!! I hav e been there myself man. These UPS guys are a pain in the neck. so you'll get it monday?

Yeah. I was hoping to get it in time for the studio (much like your thumb had not most of this happened/ seems I spend money I don't really have lol) but you can't have it all I suppose. I'm just grateful I am getting it at all.

Initially after I spoke to them after the "final" attempt, they said they were going to return it to the sender! ahaha, I would have went postal had hat been the case but I remained calm and told them that it wasn't their fault and if I appeared upset then I apologise and this prompted the lady on the phone to feel some remorse I suppose, so she said that they'll hold it for 5 business days. I think they are supposed to do that anyway so she must have been lieing initially.

But yeah sorry for the second rant and to answer your question, yes. But now I need to find a way to get there. It's actually in a different city lol. I am in Airdrie Alberta and the UPS store holding it is in Calgary Alberta which, considering my home location compared to the UPS store, is about an hour drive. So walking is out of the question lol.

uhmm, taxi?, bicycle (with a wagon attached to it) your neighbor that you give $50 too drive you there?

haha yeah the neighbor is my best bet. I couldn't possibly afford a taxi to there and back at this point. That visa was a bad idea...

Sad story, but it's the truth, and nothing but the truth, and hell no it's not my personal opinion whatsoever: people suck. Have a nice day anyway !!!

I used to work for Corbin saddles,
I dealt with UPS, FedEx, DHL, and Yellow
Freight on a regular basis.

None of them are woth it, imo.

I;ve had problems, non-stop with all
of them, not to mention that Yellow
lost three pallets of mine, valued at
over $20k US.

I've had FedEx, completly, and utterly
lose something. I mean, what are tracking
numbers for, when FedEx doesn't even know
that it's been lost for ten months?

UPS has a history of hiring the SMARTEST
drivers in the world, and when I say smartest,
I mean most chimp-like.

DHL has NEVER understood the meaning
of the word scheduled delivery.

*sigh*

I sit here waiting on my new 19" monitor from
Dell F.O., HOPING that I get it before my trip.

Like that's going to happen.

I hate shipping, it sucks.

Well, here in Canada we got CANPAR which is, for sure, the best delivery company I've ever seen. I've worked part time 3 years at the reception of a hardware store (a big one), so I can tell that the worst are the best known and the only who ships internationally. That sucks

Well for the record, that really sucks. I don't know if it means anything but trying to be in that position makes me feel your pain for sure.

As far as the item itself, I went and got it myself. Took me 4 cabs from my work.

I went around 9 and they told me they couldn't find it, so I got a cab back. I went back around noon to break the guys legs and he had it waiting so I got another cab home. Anyway, pics are on the 4th page of the inifinity club board if anyone's interested.

Cheers! Hope everything works out for Tyler and IncX.

As someone who has worked for UPS for two years, I must say I'm surprised. I've seen this happen sometimes when the address is very odd, and the driver is unable to locate it, or maybe the driver is just stupid. However the alternate address deliver request should have worked fine. Were you talking to someone at the center your package was being delivered out of, or were you talking to a generic representative at some massive UPS call center? I'd say if you weren't talking to someone at the UPS center your package was being delivered out of, there was probably some kind of lack of communication. But if you were talking to someone, they probably just plain messed up.

Personally most of the drivers at my center aren't stupid. Many are veterans who have been driving the same route for years, most of them decades. Everyone tries real hard to do their job, but sometimes all the circumstances just don't cooperate.

Bass looks gorgeous Pep, glad
to see you got it without breaking
some legs, I know how that feeling
is, lmao.

As far as 'everything working out'
well, needless to say, my caring
for the customer got me NOWHERE
at Corbin.

So we parted ways during Bike
Week '08.

I hope that company burns. :D

If you own a motorcycle, never
ever, ever buy Corbin products.

You'll never get what you want,
and that's if you get the product
at all!

(Funny thing, I worked with a guy
named Pepper at Corbin, lol.

Check out Urban Rider Mag. if
you're into street fighters, and
stunt riding, that's his endeavor,
as he too parted ways with the
same company.)

Shipping companies do pretty well considering the volume of goods they handle.Let's face it,without them, nothing moves.Sometimes mistakes occur, that's just being human. But to label them all chimps?C'mon, that's just silly.
Every bit of gear every muso on earth owns, was handled at some point,by a shipping company.Every time you wipe your bum,the paper was handled by a shipping company.Every piece of food you eat get my drift.
I'm just saying.

Yeah, I understand that.

Have you ever worked
shipping in one of the top
manufacturer's of your nation?

I have, and yes, the majority
of workers are great, but some,
are chimps.

When I receive a box marked
'fragile' and it's more beat up
than Tara Reed's augmentation,
I can't bare but to laugh, and
curse the courier.

The problem, is that not all
drivers or, hub workers, or
clerks scan packages properly.

That, and a general lack of
care for your parcel, makes
for some incompitent workers
in my experience.

I talked to people from both. Most were from a call center, 2 were from my area. I called a good 5 times on the thursday it was supposed to be there and got virtually the same answer each time. No biggie. I got it and understand somethings happen. No regreats or hard feelings towards the call center reps OR the ups guys. We all have bad days and we're all just people.

how do they calculate the customs/tax?
i was charged $400 on a $2000 bass
granted, i am in ontario

thats a good question.

I had always wondered that because I bought a dolphin pro 1 for $2000 once and paid $100 customs and bought my corvette for $700 of ebay and paid $100 in customs tax.

Mind you I was living in Nova Scotia when i got the vette.
