Hey guys,

I realise that the Warwick EMP strings are coated, but it seems they don't come in different colours. Anyone know the reason why?

I know its not that important to have coloured strings, but i fancy trying some out - checked what Warwick do (because i fancy some Warwick strings) but couldn't find any coloured strings :(
 
Warwick don't make colored strings, yet. They just don't :)

You want colored string get DR's :)

(If you want great tone get DR Sunbeams xD)
 
The coating on them is just about undetectable. Unless someone told you they were coated you'd not know they weren't just normal steels. Unless of course you are a bit of a string specialist :lol:

As it happens I live probably about 10 miles from you and I believe I have a new set for sale if you want to try them!

Im not a fan of the EMP's & I like coated strings. The EMP's felt strange to me & the coating discolored & fell off only after 4 gigs. I may have got a crook set, but i was dissapointed. Back to elixers for me.

the emp's coating fell off?!
i always thought that's more of a molecular coating - didn't think it could even fall off O_o
 
the reason warwick dont make colours strings is that warwick are cool and coloured strings are crap. haha :lol:
 
Yeah, the coating sort of peeled, right where I play with the right hand. very strange, left me with greyish looking strings....

Hey Rusty,

I noticed this: EMP's are great for guys with normal hand sweating, like myself. They last as much as elixirs for me.

If you have that acid sweat, then EMP's are not for you. I have a friend that came to see one of my warwicks, and the tone was disappearing with every note he was playing. In 10 minutes they were mute!
But really for most of the guys they last as much as EMP. And when they are new, they sound like ... new stings :-)

You are right, they are a little bit rough.

Anyway, Elixirs are great strings too :-)

Yeah, I'm not a fan of any of the warwick strings because of their roughness.

Thanks florin, I guess its the same ole story, "what works best for you" again. I did love the sound of the EMPs whilst they were new (ish). Maybe I was expecting a little too much! Im getting older you know!!!!

It's funny - I always hated the Warwick Black label rough feel (but loved the tone), after a while I finally decided to persist with them, and hey presto - I found after they were worn in a bit they got much smoother.

Not DR Sunbeam smooth - but what I'd call medium.

Compared to the "out of the box sandpaper" feel they have when new it's pretty amazing.

I find the EMPs pretty much the same. Shortly after using them I noticed a little flaking, but that stopped pretty quickly, and a few months after putting them on they still sound great.
 
I tried the EMPS and that's all what i play now for their durability and their sound.
