Warwick Customer Support - Info please on CS Dolphin Pro

This summer I purchased a custom shop Warwick Dolphin Pro I 5 string on eBay and am trying to track down its 'vintage'. It's a glossy cream white with red LED side markers. The person from whom I purchased it said he purchased it from Bass Central sometime in 2000-2001. They bought it from an individual in September 1999. It has a volute, which I understand Warwick started using in 1997. So, it's either a 1997, 1998, or 1999. Anyway, evidently because it's a glossy finish, it doesn't have the 'traditional' serial number on the back of the headstock (nor on the top of the headstock). Does Warwick have any info on this bass? I love this bass and am having a blast playing it. I'm just curious as to when it was actually made. Thanks!

Sometimes with high polish finishes the serial number is put in the control cavity.
Lovely Dolphin ya have whatever it's age.
 
Yeah, I've looked in the control cavity, but no luck there. Would they have possibly put it underneath either of the bridge pieces? If it's likely, I'll take a look next time I change my strings.
 
Yes, look for a wooden plate in the electronics compartment :-)

I have the stragest feeling we've looked for this serial number once before,with no luck unfortunatly.

I think I did post in one of the general forums, but no luck. I was hoping that someone from Warwick in Germany would read this post and have an answer.

I think maybe your SN is under the paint.I saw a Warwick with a finish similar to yours & it was under the paint on top of the headstock but only very faint parts of the number were visible where the paint has sunken into the groove.
I wonder if an x-ray would make it visible. :shock:
 
It's definitely a neck-through ( I can barely see the neck wood layers underneath the gloss finish); x-rays might work, but I'm not ready to pay that much to satisfy my curiosity. The important thing is that this thing plays like a dream, all the more so after I finally did a complete set-up on it a couple weeks ago. I love this bass!
 
When I wrote SN,I meant Serial number,not set neck. :wink:

btw ya dont need to pay for an x-ray.Just seduce the local radiologist mate. :wink:
 
Yeah, the instant I hit 'Submit' I realized I assumed the wrong 'SN'! Sorry 'bout that! Also, I'm presuming that your solution would cause other more serious problems on the home front! Besides, the wife is the one who okay'd my dream purchase, so I'm treating her right! Gotta love a woman like that!
