Volume difference between Thumb and Stage 1

I practiced with the Stage 1 today and was amazed how much quieter the bass is than the Thumb bass. The easiest way to match the gain to similar levels was to plug the Stage 1 into the Passive input, compared to the Thumb into the Active.

Is this normal, and is there anything I can do to get them to equal levels, as it could cause a problem if I have to swap basses half way through my set?

Make sure the pickups on both basses are set at the same height.

Check if your Streamer has an inner trim pot.
That trim pot should determine the output level of your electronics.
