The intro story: I'm thinking of buying a Corvette Bubinga as a backup for my Thumb BO. As far as I can see from specs, they're close up to a point (same neck wood, pickups, body wood of the same family, both BOs); however, I know they don't sound alike...thus, the question: how about a 'Vette with a different pickup positioning - similar to the Thumb's: J/J with the bridge pickup angled? Would that make the bass sound more like a Thumb? Were such basses produced until now? And would the CS accept such a request? My idea is to obtain a fairly similar sounding bass, but with the improved balancing of the Corvette - does this sound like a valid idea to you?
