Hi there I've got a 2003 Corvette Jazzman and I've got the stock MEC pups in and they're going a little bit rusty from being left in damp rehearsal rooms! So I wanna upgrade, what would you recommend - EMGs or Bartoloni?

Thanks!

Depends on the tone you want. EMGs can have some crisp on them, just listen to Primus. Les' tone has a nice bit of highs on it. Barts seem to have a fatter tone, (going by Pearl Jam's 10) than the EMGs.

But you can ask certain members here, and they'll tell you that Barts sound best finger style, but not that pleasant towards slapping.

Also, I hope you Jazzman is a 4 string, because if it's not... You're going to need to widen that pickup cavity. Those MM pups aren't shaped the same as MECs are for 5ers.

Hey,
Can't help you on this - I've no experience in changing pickups - and therefore:
PLEEEEEEASE, as soon as you decided - make some pre-after soundclips!

as stated before EMGs has more bite than barts but barts has that round tone that EMGs doesn't so it's a matter of what you want!

I love Les's tone, I might plump for the EMGs!

Whatever you choose, please send us a clip to hear it! I'm not sure which EMGs Les uses, but I think it was DC or CS. Not sure, but I know he uses the soap bar pups. For you, you'll need a MM Humbucker and a Jazz neck. I think you'll get a close tone.

There's a few different ones to choose from HZ, Active, and JX for the neck. For the Bridge, Active, HZ, and a TC (I think thats what its called It's a Twin Coil) are available in MM HBs.

Stoopid question, but is a bit of rust the main reason why you want to change your pickups???
