Group stage draw today, some interesting groups came out... Your comments.
 
Auxerre is going to get his ass kicked.... Real, AC Milan and Ajax. : something like 18-20 european titles... against a single National title in 1997... It's gonna be painful to watch...

Indeed it's a very tough group... and you made it at the last moment. I have to thank you because your victory over Zenit pushed my team (Panathinaikos) to the second pot, first time ever for a Greek team.
 
Yep, pretty tough stuff. It's good though, Barça is first anyway and it does give my team prrrestige. (I just hope we don't concede too many goals :) ) First match of the group is between us in Spain. FC Kobenhavn and Rubin Kazan we can fight with equal terms. Rubin is going to be tougher, especially away if the weather is extreme. Can't wait for the group stage!

Lyon will be playing against Benfica, Schalke 04 and Tel Aviv. We can do it !!! We reached the semi-final last year...
 
If Real doesn't pass the first knockout stage this year, it will be the 7th or 8th time in a row...

I wanted to be in the same group as Olympique so that we could learn about each other's teams more. :) I did not realize you got seven championships in a row! Plus we got a couple of your players this year, I hope they do well for us. ;)
 
Don't call it "Olympique". Call it "Olympique Lyonnais", "Lyon" or "OL", because there's another Olympique: Olympique de Marseille or "OM". Our main rival these days.

Last season there was an EPIC OL vs OM game in Lyon. It ended on 5-5, I saw it on TV and I was jumping on my sofa... Lyon was losing 4-2... We went back to 4-4, then we lead the score at 5-4, and we ended on a draw 5-5. Best Ligue 1 game I've ever seen.

And yeah, we sold you (Panathinaikos) two players... Govou and Boumsong. Quite good players.

I just saw it. First of all, some great TV coverage there. Sidney's goal was fabulous, he scored a similar goal with the left foot in a friendly match of ours here. We need his intrusive skill, our left wing already does some great work there and now we need to be balanced. So far he shows very good elements of play and seems in very good physical shape. I am convinced he will help us immensely. The reaction of your goalie on OM's first goal was impressive, although you conceded the goal after all. And their second goal tantalized him crossing the goal line slowly. I learned about him today in the CL draw, he was nominated for goalkeeper of the year, I heard he's considered the goalie of the future since he's still pretty young. Nice stuff there overall, it must have been a hell of a match with 4 goals after the 81st minute.
 
Yeah, Hugo Lloris is an amazing goalie. He's the keeper for the (ridiculous) French national team, but hey... What they did at World Cup was awful but it wasn't Hugo's fault. Our defense was just horrible.

And you know what? I work in a big retail shop near Lyon and 3 weeks ago, Hugo Lloris came as a customer... I had a cool little chat with him, he's very humble and down to earth. He jokingly told me "Marseille was champion by luck" with a little smile. Actually I met many players (as customers) at my work... Govou, Juninho, Malouda, Piquionne, Michel Bastos, Cris... The other day, I even had Benzema's uncle as a customer lol .
 
ALL RIGHT!!! :d I am a Gunners fan, and among all the major teams I think we got the easiest draw. Shakhtar are pretty tough but I believe we can manage. Thankful that Cesc Fabregas decided to stay, at least for another season.
 
if Benfica starts to play like last year then we can discuss first place in the group... Lyon is a strong team but i think that we can win!
 
Match day today... I hope my team Panathinaikos plays well against Barcelona and avoids an embarrassing score sheet... :)

I hope Madrid do better this year, like playing the final, but who knows.

On the other hand, a match Real Madrid-Schalke 04 should be nice, seeing Raul playing against hes former all-life team :)
