TubePath 5.1 for metal?

Hi there!



I'm thinking about upgrading my ProFet to TubePath 5.1.

Is this amp really good for rock/metal music? I need powerfull, heavy and tight sound. I play with fingers.

Would it work good with WCA 611-4ohms?

That'd be an excellent way to go but also try out the X-treme 10.1 before you make your descision.I know several metal bassists that swear by their X-tremes.
The 611 Pro is a good cab for either head.

Hey guitarereo. I agree with Greg, you should try the Xtreme too :-)
The tubepath has a vintage tube sound... Good for maiden, or Motorhead stuff.
The Xtreme has a modern sound.
They are both tight sounding!

Both amps are so flexible it doesn't matter which one you choose, but I am one of those people that swear by my X-TREME for metal. The only times I haven't been happy with it, it turned out I did something wrong.

I wouldn't say no to the Tubepath, but don't forget the X-TREME, it's made my feet numb, rattled my teeth, and I've still heard the notes and not a rumble or clang. 8)

I'll try both of them. And how about the volume? Is TubePath 5.1 louder than X-treme 5.1?
 
Pretty much louder :-) However, the new Profet 5,2 is louder than the old one, but I've never tried it.
 
Volume will only be an issue with these amps if you have it too loud for your ears. Stroud will testify to the volume of the 5.1.
 
i will. loud enough for any gig you'll do

as i sing these days im usually a long way from my amp and thats not caused any problems, i can always hear the amp
 
Hi there, i just bought a tubepath 5.1 and a pro 411, and this is perfect for metal, very little had to do with the amp to make it sound perfect for metal.

Really nice defintion on the low B with a really warm sound to the rest of the notes.

I love it! I highly recommend this amp setup! Cant wait to gig with it!
 
Let me know when you have a gig in Norwich and I'll see if I can check it out. I'll be blasting the X-TREME at The Marquee 23rd Feb before Wraith at the Waterfront. Any chance you'll be there?
 
23rd, ill have to check if im at work, but if not most probably havnt been to the marquee in a while, heard its got a new events manger, that true?

Id love to hear the X treme in action, its got some very good reviews, plus the neo cab in action, got to hear that set up!

Yea got a new drummer, gone in a slightly heavier direction since the old recordings, should be recording in around 3 months time, then hopefully start giging again.

You got a new singer lined up yet?
Saw the pics of you at the Waterfront, you guys looked proper good, how did you land that?!

A bit of good timing to be honest. A friend put me in contact with the uea/waterfront promoter and I got lucky. We are auditioning soon and then we'll find out.

My guitarist had a play around with the eq and my distortion pedal so it's not gonna be as traditional as it used to sound. When I get a decent pedal, perhaps with a valve, it will sound more Lemmy which is only good.

They have new guy at The Marquee called Paul. He's quite a nice chap. They've starting sorting out the back room now as well. The stage has been moved and is bigger, and there should be an in house pa now too. So it should turn into a decent venue. And it's now the home of metal since the Fezbot shut down.

I want to check you guys out but I've never had the chance. Hope I can soon.
 
I've had an opportunity to try out TubePath 10.1 today. It is so GREAT amp! I really love its sound! :D I also compared it to Ampeg SVT-3 (it was in the same shop), and SVT doesn't sound at all. :) Maybe, it's not bad amp by itself, but comparing to TubePath... :lol:

So, I almost decided to go for TubePath. I've got only one question. I tried out 1000W version today, but I want to order 500W (TubePath 5.1). Do they have EXACTLY the same sound and features? I'll order it from another country, so I don't have a chance to try 500W out, but I want the sound I heard today!... :)

Both the Tubepath 5.1 & 10.1 will sound the same,the only difference being the output.
Have fun with the new amp dude.
 
Sorry, just one more question about output...

I want my new amp to be suitable for all possible live situations. So, couldn´t happen that TubePath 5.1 won't be loud enough for some really big stages, and TubePath 10.1 will be too loud for small clubs?

I would prefer to get TubePath 5.1, but I want to be sure, that it has enough of power for me. Otherwise, I'll save some more money, and will go for 1000 Watts...
