I have a tube path 10.1 and need a question answered. I have spoken to several people about this and have had mixed responses... If I turn down the master gain to 0, can i run the amp without a cab, just using the D.I. out? I cant see any problem, but wanted to see what u guys thought...

No, not really. Basically what the Direct output delivers is a balanced line level signal to go to a mixing board directly. For this to happen you need a preamplifier to bring that signal up from Instrument/Mic level to Line Level, and that's what your gain knob does.

Cool... but if I up the gain and leave the master at 0, will I damage the amp if I dont have a speaker attached? Its just I play a regular gig and I dont really need the cab as there is sufficent P.A. equipment for front of house and monitoring but i want the sound of the tubepath. Just dont wanna kill the amp by doing this...

Thanks...

No, having the master volume at o will not damage the amplifier.
