Trying to adjust the rod in my 1990 Streamer Stage I 5!

Hi, ive recently purchased this 1990 Streamer and have noticed ive got a lot of fretbuzz when i took all the strings off and then put them back on after cleaning the neck, when i went to adjust the trussrod the trussrod tool that came with my 2004 Thumb bolt-on wouldnt work with it, can anyone tell me what i need to adjust this rod?

Bill,

When you say 'wouldn't work with it' do you mean that the truss rod tool wouldn't insert into the hex recess, or that the tool would slip inside the hex recess?

Hi! - it just wouldnt insert, i take it the 2004 trussrod tools werent supposed to work with the 1990 trussrod's?

There is a circular washer looking thing above the trussrod though??

The trussrod tool should work. But maybe the trussrod or only the nut were changed, and you maybe you have a different size nut. Try to see if a Fender allen works. (or select an Allen from an American set)

Yes,

but make sure the allen fits tightly. I'd try both metric and an American set to see which allen fits best.

I havent tried it again yet, but like i said there is a thick circular thing covering the trussrod?! no idea what it is, had a go at removing it but seemed a bit tricky, it was loose though..
