Well .... there is a job for me there??? Any job.....;)

Anyway ....still feeling around on the web the truss rod of Warwick bass are not among the most resistant ... Many bass players have had problems with the Warwick truss rod ...and my luthier has confermed this ...

Hi Florin, so how much does it cost for a new replacement neck?? Ive emailed warwick twice now but not had a reply!? thanks mine is ovangkol with wenge fretboard
 
You ned to contact a Warwick Dealer, or the Warwick distribution in ITALY. They will hep you. As for the basses, the prices can vary from country to country, and I am not allowed to give out prices.

About Warwick Trussrod not being reliable, this is simply not true.

This is just internet wisdom coming from people that cannot really afford Warwick, and they think their 80' Fenders are better made. Just silly :-)

It could be ...but my 70' Fender bass has never had any truss rod problem ... it works like new ....
 
well not had any response from warwick direct after three emails! so taken it to a local luthier who assures me it can be done, so gonna strip the fingerboard off, replace rod with a new sronger rod then reassemble it all for me! two weeks worth of work but for a VERY reasonable price, and i would guess a HELL of a lot less than a new neck from warwick!! hopefully gettong it back next weekend!! looking forward to finally getting to play it and gig with it!! will keep you posted!!

on the plus side, just secired a cracking deal on a 'vette $$ so will be adding to the collection very soon!!

hi, the guy doing it for me only quoted me £110 including the new rod!! so well worth it!! while he's got it i'm gonna splas hout and have him do a pro setup for me too!!

70's Fenders are nice basses. Yours have not trussrod problems, this is great! None of my Warwicks had trussrod problems :-) I've seen a lot of Fenders with trussrod problems, way more than Warwicks, still I don't claim it is a "Fender trussrod problem", that's my point.

The trussrod is a big screw. If you are not careful, you can strip it laike any screw. :-)

Sure ... but I'm not the last arrived ....I know how to set up a bass .... and this is not what I have said . My luthier said that Warwick truss rods are a little bit "fragile"...
He probably had more to do with Warwick truss rods than Fenders or any other bass brand ....
 
The old members know that we (Warwick) and me, (Flo) don't have a problem to put it this way:
" We know it is an issue, we will try to solve it as soon as possible"

But I am sorry, it is not the case now. No matter what other people will say I will stick with Warwick this time, because I know they are built like tanks :-)

A luthier friend of mine said it's not that Warwick's have weak truss rods, they're made out of the same metal that other truss rods are made from, it's more a case of Warwick necks being much stronger than others. This can lead to inexperienced people man-handling the truss rod to the point where they strip it.
A Fender 1 piece maple neck needs very little force from the truss rod to bend or straighten the neck.
A multi-laminate Warwick truss rod comes up against much stiffer resistance, so we only apply 1/8 to 1/4 of a turn at a time to allow the neck to adjust safely.
Any truss rod is easily stripped if slow & gentle is replaced by fast & furious.
Ever notice how we never hear from people that say that they personally have stripped their rod?
It's usually the case that they bought the (used) bass in that condition.
 
just had a call from the luthier to say i can pick the bass up!! VERY excited!! looking forward to getting it back and playing it, and also seeing how good a job he's done on it!! the total for the job has come to £125 which i think is very reasonable seeing as i had had quotes for £300ish from a couple of guys!! will update later after i receive it!! and if i can work out how to do it i'll put up some pics so u guys can see the job done!!
