Tried my first warwick.

Certainly not the case here... it's all about weight distribution IME. If the upper horn of the thumb was longer it would have much better balance. I don't mind heavy basses, my corvette is heavy but has better balance than the thumb... I've played basses just as heavy as the thumb with no neck dive issues, and basses half the weight with neck dive.
Everything depends on the player though - if it's comfortable to you, everything else is nonsense.

Maybe the first questions should be; how do you like to wear your bass? Do you like to hold your bass higher and more vertical; or low-slung and more horizontal like many Rock bass players?

I don’t have a problem of neck dive with my Thumb, actually I find the Thumb to be a bit bottom heavy because of all the heavy hardwood Ovangkol in the body; but then I prefer to wear my bass a bit higher and more vertical. However, if you prefer to wear you bass in a more horizontal position, the less effect that heavy body has as a counterbalance and the more effect the weight of the neck has on neck dive.

i dont do a lot of gigs at the moment but i normally have it slung in between really high and really low.

I'm a "higher and more vertical" player (????) - I agree with Isa, I think this helps the balance issue -in fact, it's not really an issue for me!
