Traveling Nightmare

Well,
I'm finally here in Hawaii and I must say that it totally rocks! The views here are amazing and the warm weather is a pleasure.

The trip here however was horrific... 3 delays, 2 missed flights due to delays and all of my family's luggage and my Corvette missing once we got to Honolulu. 3 days later and a ton of calls to the airline and we finally got our stuff... bass included. It appears that our luggage went from North Carolina to Philly then to Atlanta and Michigan; Michigan to San Francisco and finally to Honolulu.

I purchased a heavy duty ATA flight case before I left, lined the inside and empty space with bubble-wrap and covered my bass with bubble-wrap. When my bass finally got to Hawaii I was amazed at how thrashed the case was! :x Luckily the contents were still in good condition and no damage occured. I would rather lose all my clothes than my baby vette. Luckily we got everthing back..... I hate flying.
 
ALB, I work in the aviation industry and my brother-in-law is a pilot for an undisclosed airline. Neither of us will ever check luggage again based on firsthand experience with what happens on the other side of that little door the conveyor belt goes through. I'd rather spend $300 to FedEx my stuff to wherever I'm going than let the airlines have any part of it, especially a bass. Glad to hear it finally worked out for you and enjoy the tropics! ~M~

It's amazing how many workers with the aviation industry say that exact same thing. My cousin was a flight attendant up until Sept. 11th and she refuses to have any baggage checked ever. I have vowed that from now on I will only travel with a bag that will fit in the overhead compartment. I recently heard on the news that airline companies plan to start charging customers for all checked baggage. It looks like carry-ons are the way to go. As if paying $1100 per ticket wasn't enough, now they want to charge for baggage as well. What's next, paying for meals on flights.... wait that's already being done.
 
The whole industry's gone downhill in the past ten years or so, from my perspective at least. For the employees, wages and benefits keep getting cut while the execs keep getting bonuses, and for the passengers... might as well box yourself up and fly UPS Air... ~M~

It's ashame. The poor stay poor and the rich get richer!! :x

The good thing is,

that badazz bass riffs can be played for venting purpose..................now where is that RATM cd....................(ALB, I believe we talked about this before...............but..................no one is too old to listen to some angry music once in a while......... :lol: )

Ha !! I thought about whether it's a vacation or permanent stay; I figured since you didn't mention anything, it must be a vacation.............I was wrong.................this..............changes everything...............("Flood" :twisted: )
Good thing then: no nightmarish flight back !! I'm sure your Warwick bass is more relieved about that than you..... :lol:
Wow, living in Hawaii.................difficult to imagine..................although, I did see TOOL in "Andrew's Amphitheater" in 2001 on November 10th (Honolulu)....................sweet.............. 8)

Difficult to imagine......Trying to find a place to live.......difficult to imagine!
The real estate market here is insane and good homes in good school districts are even harder to come by. That's the price for living in paradise I guess?

Ouch..........well I hope you find a nice place, and that your family settles quickly............It's a new chapter in your lives I guess............Another important issue when moving: there are Warwick dealers in Oahu right ?? 8)

Nope DBG is the only source here.... but I can buy ukelele's everywhere.

I actually thought of maybe getting a ukulele, because it's a 4 string instrument (guitar for noobs , like myself I thought), but when I checked Wikipedia, it turned out it's a got a really really bizar tuning...............no thanks I thought.......... :lol: (Maybe it's something for Michael Manring.....)
Cool thing about ukulele though, is that a lot of them are made of Koa (=Hawaiian wood)..............sweet.......... :D

I was at the store yesterday buying an Easter basket for my daughter and there was a ukelele display with some sweet instruments. The wood grain on those things were beautiful. I might have to pick one up eventually and tune it EADG which is totally plausible. They even had some that were acoustic-electric, could you imagine plugging a ukelele into an Ampeg 8x10
or a Jonas Hellborg 2x15..... LOL.

I meant Democratic Socialism, like most of Europe. Not Nazi socialism... Sorry for the misunderstanding...
 
nazi socialism? whats that, i thought the Nazi's were facist, though I guess being called the National Social Party or watever it was could mean they are socialist, damn politics are confusing!
 
Socialism is, in and of itself, a good theory (my opinion). But like democracy and any other form of government, the execution is usually less than the ideal. ~M~
