Thumb NT Balance

Even with its neck dive, the Thumb is my choice, by far.

Nonno! It is not Neck dive!!! It is Thumb Standard Horizontal Position, or TSHP. You should not fight the thumb, leave her horizontal

Always thought the Thumb was INTENDED to have a more horizontal neck position while playing. This makes it easier for percussive playing styles. If you're going to play a more traditional technique like picking or fingerstyle, then you'll be wrestiling with the Thumb - any Thumb - all night. For people that think this is a problem, realize it is an intended design characteristic of the bass. No different than the intended uniqueness of the tone, etc.

For perfect balance - there is nothing, and I mean nothing, like a Fortress. But then, this is a very different tone. Probably why manufacturer's offer many different styles of instruments. Just can't please everyone with one design!

Not to quibble, but my prefer playstyle is finger-picking and I have absolutely NO problem with neck dive with either a BO or NT Thumb. I wear it mid-lower chest and use a Comfort Strap.
