Does anybody´s got a thumb from 1989?

Hi,

I'm the proud owner of a Thumb 5 fretless 1989 and a Thumb 4 1986. Thumb 5 built in december 1989 and the Thumb 4 in february 1986 to be precise. here are some pics:

Those are two fine looking Thumbs!

It will always be a Thumb Bass for me, too!

Nothing Else Matters!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for your kind words and yep, you're right, the Thumb Rules. Do you have a pic of your new Thumb NT? I really like those new bodies!
 
No pics of the NT yet. (I haven't told my wife about it yet, so it's kind of hiding in my practice room! She thinks it's an old Yamaha in that SKB hard shell case and she never looks in my cases, thank God.) One of these days it will have to come out.

I think you have a universal problem there :D Well the Yamaha excuse is a good one, no reason to look in the case :twisted:
 
My previous bass was a Yamaha BB-G5A, so I understand your argument... :lol:

P.S.: actionally, my Yamaha wasn't a bad bass, but [of course] can't be compared with a Warwick.

just kiddin' ofcourse. Actually I owned a Yamaha BB5000A, not a bad bass at all! BTW nice website!

What kind of pickups are in your 1986 Thumb? Was Warwick using MEC back in 1986? I've seen pictures of vintage Warwicks with EMG's.

Hi Oil Can,

My Thumb 86 has EMG pick ups. In 1986 these were standard PU's of factory. Bartolini's were also available, but were an option if i'm not mistaken. Later, that must be from 1990, MECC PU's were installed off factory.
 
hey guys i have just buy a thumb 5 from 1989 yesterday in the south of france the cost.... 1300 E, can you tell me something about this year i feel so exciting about this bass, i have buy this bass for play ehip hop electro!
