So...what does everyone think? It looks...interesting? By far not the best looking mod I've ever seen, but I'd be cautious buying it. The ramp could make playing it fun though...
 
I think it would be better looking if it didn't wrap around under the butt of the fretboard, if it were only under the strings.
 
I think it looks horrible, but its removable and the price is good. :roll:
 
It lets me see exactly why we don't include one of these in the regular model. It doesn't look good and I think it's too big to be functional, for example, how would you slap on that bass with ramp there?
 
I am trying to get a thumbr rest for my BO5 but this is not what i want definetly.

looks like the ramp is coveringa big messup in there. too big and obnoxious.

some people can do mods....others....

Hmm... frankly I don't thing that ramp-basses and slapping go well together... they are at opposite sides of the bass-playing spectrum: Percussive, energic playing with slap, and extra-light touch with a ramp...

So you're absolutely right, no slapping on that bass...

That ramp doesnt even follow the grain in the body.It looks like a drink coaster's been glued to the bass.
This guy is another,"sad freak that cant leave his bass alone".

Seems that he is planning on stating to do this for a living... with these results i guess we'll be supporting him on welfare for a while. I say this not mean but in a sincere tone of voice man. :cry:

poor Thumb. Nobody likes him enough that they messed him up made him a monster and put him now on ebay at a pretty high start bid price for a BO IMHO.
 
i wonder what's hiding under the ramp?? seems that the only reason to do that is to hide a massive flaw.

that said, if the ramp only extended 1/2 way to the fretboard, and no wider than the pickups, it could look good. maybe. hard to tell though.

Isn't that the standard pickup config for the thumb 5 only?

Perhaps he's routed the bass to change the pickup config, and is hiding a big ungly scar from the old pickup routing under that big 'ol ramp?
 
Eh....so it is! My only excuse is that I've been working on the same essay for nearly a week now, and I'm seriously lacking human contact. Economics has turned my brain to cheese.

Anyhow, I believe my point was that we require MORE COWBELL!

Thanks for diverting my attention to that clip, btw....it's kept me laughing for days!

It's probably close on the only time I've ever understood anything Christopher walken has said...the rest of the time he just sounds like he's mumbling.
 
I just checked this seller's other items from that item at ebay and he has also a Squier bass. he made the mods and basically the mods are adding different pick ups, adding a pick guard to make it look excactly as a Fender Jazz and adding a transparent ramp which I did not like either.

oh I forgot he also added a hipshot D-Tuner and bumped up the price of this cheap bass a lot.
