Thumb BO ( MEC 3-way )

Hello everyone I am new guy here at this forum and I am thinking of getting my self Thumb BO Custom Shop 4 string version with MEC 3 - way active electronics and everything else standard (maybe matching ovangkol head plate). Has anyone tried or played it before. What kind of sound characteristics can I expect. Any opinion would be nice.Thanks

You don't need CS for that, just buy a thumb BO, and replace the electronics, there are not expensive, and it is easy to do it.
In my experience, I have no use for 2 way MEC. But the 3 way... this is different. The treble pot is 2 khz for 2way , and 8,5 khz for 3 way. For me 2 khz are high mids anyway. 8,5 khz is a very nice frequency, very usable, if you cut gives a nice "old school" tone, if you boost, adds some very nice harmonics to the sound.
The mids are great, 800 hz, that is my favorite freq. to boost. I keep mine at maximum

I personally find the 2 band preamp to be more musical and organic sounding myself. I also find the treble pot to be centered more to the high-mid spectrum but it's easier to set quickly during a song than to try and set mids and treble independently. I would have preferred a 2 band in my '04 Ltd honestly - the 3 band is not the easiest tool when trying to get a natural tone imho. ~M~

I use my BO4 as my main stage axe and I find the 2 band very easy to work with myself. I can go from the old-school thump to a really deadly slap tone with just a sweep of the knob.
