Thumb bleached blonde

Hi !!!

A guy wants to change his thumb bleached blonde with my stingray. But would like to hear a record of this bass before. Does anyone got one ? I play funk music and metal.

A recording of a Bleached Blonde Thumb might turn out alot different to how one sounds when you play it.The safest way is to go to a shop,take your amp along & try the bass out for yourself.A recording can have effects etc. that colour the instruments tone,proof is in the pudding as the old saying goes. :wink:

I have a Bleached Blonde Thumb but no recordings of it. It is a uch different beast than the regular thumbs you see in metal. HOnestly, I would try to get a Thumb 5 bolt on, not a Bleached if you play metal. HTis coming from a metal player.

Oh, and Thumperton *wink wink* regarding getting rid of the 'Ray, eh? :lol:

now that I think about it, I would be much more apt to take my Hot Rod to play metal over a bleached Thumb.

But still, a THumb 5 BO made of ovangkol is the tits when it comes to metal, IMHO.

Or possibly a Corvette $$

About the 5 strings thumb bass, I was thinking about buying a spector on ebay (euro 5lx), but I need more a 4 string bass. There's only one song which needs a 5 string bass for my band, and i've already got one (shine bass). Our music combines different styles from "funk metal" to something more heavy. And I thought a bleached blonde was a nice occasion.
 
cacolac, Im in no way telling you what to decide, Im just telling you from my own experiences what I have preferred for metal. Can you give me some examples of metal bands that influence you or anything like that? Im an Unearth, Mudvayne, Satyricon fan and I much prefer the Thumb BO 5 as my metal bass.

I actually used a Bleached Blonde for an audition for a band that does the same sort of crazy prog rock stuff that Tool as well as classics like Satriani and Vai play, and I didnt think it brought the BOOM well enough.

I know Ollie has a Bleached Blonde 5 string (which I plan to steal from him! :shock: ) so maybe he could chime in.

It depends on what you mean by BOOM. I have found the Bleached Blonde to have a lot of low end (40Hz to 120Hz) because of the ask body and a lot of high end (2.5KHz to 3.2 KHz) This is makes quite good for slapping. What I have found it to be not so strong with are the mids, which takes away a lot of presence and growl from the bass. This can fixed with some EQ , but the fact that it doesn't deliver the sound naturally makes me pick up another bass before I pick up my bleached blonde. But I do use it a lot for slapping, it is a comfortable bass and it weighs close to nothing and looks beautiful.... definitely a nice instrument.
 
From Olivers post,low end (40Hz to 120Hz), high end (2.5KHz to 3.2 KHz) makes it alot easier to understand,for me that is.Is there a website or book I can get?

Yes, that is exatly what I meant. Maybe BOOM isnt the best way to describe it, but it certainly doesnt hit that id range with the attack it should. Like you said Ollie, EQ can recover some of that midrange, but since it does not do it naturall,y I tend to do what you do and grab another 'Wick first.

I would say get the Bleached Blonde NOWand ssave up like made for a Thumb BO or something later down the road. OVerall, the Bleached BLonde is probably my favorite Warwick so far that I have had, and it looks soo killer. I went to Guitar Center witbh it the other night to order a new nut for it, and everyone was like "holy crap, is that a Thumb?!?!" I couldve charged people to touch it, its that sexy. 8)

he he... :lol: I know what you mean. A couple weeks back I went to get a hard case for the Streamette at a place called George's Music. They (stupidly) don't take trades so it's not often anybody walks in with a gig bag. The manager stopped me near the door and gave me the whole "Can I help you with someting?" bit. I said I'm there looking for a hardcase for my new bass. "Oh, is it like a Fender?" HA!! Not quite. I told him it was just an old odd-ball Corvette 4 stringer and he asked if he could see it. Within five minutes, there was a line of people at the checkout counter waiting impatiently and most of the staff was oooo-ing and ahhhh-ing over the Streamette. I'd say the level of service increased dramatically after that... :D ~M~

I'm still looking for a new bass. I've seen someone wants to sell his thumb NT, we have to discuss the price. We will see. But if you hear something about a thumb or streamer stage , tell me. :wink: Ho, I'm French, so of course I'm not interested by a bass in the usa

You say that some one wants to TRADE your bass for a Bleached Blonde?
Well, I'd say DO IT !!. You won't regrete it.
 
I was about to trade it when he told me he didn't have it anymore, too late. No matters, I've found a thumb NT :twisted: :P :twisted:
 
I also ordered an aphex 204 (aureal exciter and big bottum). With my gallien krueger (700 RBII + 4*10RBH), I let you imagine...... :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted:
