Thumb 5 possible fault

I have two Warwicks, one a 4 string Streamer approx 10 years old, and a 5 string Thumb approx 15-18 years old, both through necks.

I have a question regarding the Thumb.

Basically, the volume from the Thumb is around 50-75% of the volume from the Streamer. This occurs in both active and passive mode, and the battery has been replaced which has made no difference whatsoever.

I also own a 1976 Fender Precision, and the volume from that is comparative with the Streamer, so I am assuming it is a fault with the Thumb. I have to turn the gain up on my amp by 50% whenever switching between the Streamer and the Thumb.

There is a fault with the volume pot, in that once it has reached the maximum, if depressed slightly, it rotates round again, but with a different stop position (and the volume even quieter). Then if depressed again, goes past the stop position, to rotate round to the original stop position and volume level.

I know this is a rather generic question, but is there anything specific it could be? Could it simply be that this volume pot is causing the overall lack of volume?

check the height of your pickups. maybe they are really low and far from the strings?

No the pickups are fine.

I'm fairly certain it's an electrical fault of some description.

Please take your bass to a qualified tech.

Have you checked if there is a trimpot for the volume on the preamp (inside the compartment)

Definately have your Thumb Bass looked at by a qualified tech, per Ollie's suggestion. There's something seriously wrong going on.
