add 100€ for case and shipping, that'd be 1400€ total for shipping to Europe. Thats if I don't withdraw the bass from selling (I'm seiously thinking about it)

This would probably make me the most hated guy here but DON'T SELL. Dude a thumb bass slaps the hell out of a Zon any day of the week.
I like Zons but I wouldn't sell a Thumb to buy one.

yeah my gut is telling me the same ! I think I'm gonna keep both (the Zon is in transit , haven't been able to try it yet) but I took off my 5th string to get used to the feeling of playing 4 again and my body and ears keep on saying don't sell, keep em both! I need the lighter bass for practicing though, the thumb is just too much for long study sessions.
Incidentally, I devised a double strap technique I haven't seen anywhere and that definitely helps even out the weight and eliminate neck dive completely ! :
short strap over my left shoulder and long strap goes from the back of the bass around the left side of my body and diagonally across my back and over my right shoulder with half a twist in the strap ! performs miracles...

Tend to disagree here, but then again I don't own a Thumb. Only a ZON.
Slapping goes so natural on the ZON, such a beautiful instrument. And I can't even slap!
I'm also interested (got a thumb 4 nt, but feel like moving to 5 string).
How far are you from the madrid airport? Paris/Madrid is not soo expensive, and I feel like your thumb is definitly worth the trip

I checkd with fedex and UPS and its expensive to send to the states (between 300-400€ in the economy mode), plus youd have to pay taxes also. i dont know why spanish couriers are so expensive... I ANy body have experience or know of any other couriers in Spain ?

I know , it's ridicuous, maybe it's a way of boosting tourism or something, who knows? State postal service is much cheaper and 100% reliable but they have a limit in size which electric basses sadly don't meet. To send around Europe (EC) the fee is around 70€...

Just an update, the ZON arrived and it has awesome tone and plays wonderfully. I miss the 5th string though, which is why I'm looking to trade my thumb for another 5 or 6 string, but I want fretless !!

Keeping , not selling
I feel so bad for the gentleman in France who was in the process of buying . Not until today have I had a few hours to patiently sit down with both of my basses (The newly acquired Zon VB-4 and the thumb) and do a side by side comparison in my amp , pluging one and then the other, seeing what each excells at and trying to emulate eachother, and they are just too different and I just can't get close to that growly high-mid woody character I get out of the thumb). The grafite neck Zon is much more defined for chordal stuff and is more versatile in sound palette but it's missing out on that special sound. So in the end I have to agree with markoism. I don't know if this tone is easily found in other basses, but until I do I wont be ready to part I'm afraid....

I will check a thumb 5 nt 1991 tomorrow night next to my place, kinda expensive and not as gorgeous as this one, but we'll see.
