The wifes cat vs my thumb!

I came downstairs the other night, sat down to play and felt something weird on the lower part of my fretboard... Flipped the bass over to find that the cat dug her claws in! Oh the sight!!! It's like a never ending thing here with me and the bass, My nut keeps breaking (solved by the brass jan2) and now the hole in the side of my fretboard. I had to get out the sandpaper and file to remove it, I started sanding to reveal the end of the fret, had to file a wee bit off the end of the fret and finally got it all smooth and back to normal again. Measured everything up and its looking pretty good now. I figured ill dab a little epoxy on the fret end then use some steel wool to smooth it out. I really dont like that cat...
 
Ever thought about diggin into the cat with the bass and see if he likes it? :shock: Joking, of course - I would never advocate animal cruelty... :twisted: ~M~

I was furios after it happened that I just about killed the cat... But my wife guarded her so I didnt have a chance :P As for the bass, I was looking around at refret jobs and how-tos and such and I think I'm on the right track to fixing it. I've built basses before and done some big bass mods but never done anything with refretting/fixing a fret, etc. except for that time I converted a bass into a fretless (turned out awesome) But I figure I'll have it all fixed tonight. As for the cat... Next time I see her eyeing my equip... her furry lil butt is going outside. My ferret on the other hand knows not to mess with my stuff, shes a lil angel :P
 
I caught my bird starting to chew on the headstock of my Thumb one time... She used to perch there for hours and never bothered it until that one time. Luckily, the guys over there in Germany have built a bass that can outwit a cockatiel and she didn't manage to do any permanent damage. Just kind of scuffed it up a bit... ~M~
 
You have a cockatiel too Mick? :shock:Mines called Bob.I never leave my bass alone near my cockatiel,he flys free in the the house quite a bit & he has chewed some wood on windows etc.I've always been extra carefull coz their beaks can shred hardwood very easily.He's landed on it once or twice but I dont encorage it,too risky.That said,Warwick headstocks are composite fibre stuff that's very durable,& the bubinga is harder than the hammers of hell & if it is damaged slightly it's easily fixed.
btw Mick,now that ya have that Streamette can I have your Infinity SN?C'mon,I'll be your best mate,honest. :P
 
Hmm... Let me see. Give away my SN5... I admit, it'd be for a good cause. I'll have to think about that. I've kinda already promised my old bass teacher that he can borrow my NT5 when I go on holiday since he's been crying about not getting to play Warwick's since I moved and he's wanted to try fretless. I'd have to think twice about letting my two favourites out of the house at the same time... .... .... Still thinking... :roll: ~M~

My fiance's cat ruined a nice carpeted rack in my studio. When It ried to pull it off it clawed the crap out of my arm. We moved shortly after and the cat now lives outside.

Im not a total monster tho...I got her a house with a closing door, bedding and a heating pad. My allergies and my gear feel better.
