out of all the woods warwick uses.
what really puts the HARD in hardwood? for body and neck

(excluding ebony (unless you can make the whole bass out of it...is that possible?))

if you select 'other wood' please post reply of which wood
 
Yup, you can make the whole bass out of ebony...

It would be rather mad, though... In a good way... :twisted:

il use ebony for neck and fingerboard and use macassar ebony for the body!!!

I don't get the question. Do you want to know what wood Warwick uses has the highest engineering hardness value ?? This hardness is not related to "hardwood".
 
whats warwicks most dense wood, like ash is softer that ovankol.

You're mixing things up here. Density and hardness are different things. Density is the weight per unit volume, whereas hardness of a material is the resistance to plastic deformation, usually on the surface of the material. There is a relation between yield strength of the material and its hardness. Hardness is related to wear resistance, which is interesting for fretless boards, since there is contact between the steel strings and the wood. For this reason, Ebony is a very suitable wood. Ebony has the highest hardness value, and density as well.
 
as far as i know, bubinga is more dense than ovangkol but not nearly as dense as ebony...
just google the data
 
I would go with wenge because of how dense looking the grain is but thats my guess i think bubinga is pretty hard as well.
 
Why not take a 1 kilo steel weight, hang it at 1 meter, then drop it on various samples of wood and measure the depth of the dent? :roll: ~M~

Actually,

that's pretty close to the actual hardness test. 8)
 
oh really? i was thinking of a mathematical formula last night but i suck at math :lol:
 
I have no idea at all.
I don't think a poll will tell you either, it will only tell you what other peoples opinions are, and they may not be based on any fact.
