The plastic nut on my corvette broke.

What would you all recommend as a replacement? A brass nut?

G'day JD & welcome.
I'm assuming your bass is fitted with the Just-A-Nut 2,which is prone to breaking it's side clips.A new,improved nut has been released by Warwick called the Just-A-Nut 3.This is an improved design & a slightly different material to the JAN2.Contact your country's Warwick distributor & tell them the problem & you'll probably be sent a JAN3 for free.
If you have any trouble locating the distributor they can be bought for very cheap from the Warwick web shop.

I'm thinking of getting a 4 and 5 string Jan 3, they must have just come out this year. My RB Corvette is an 06 and it has a Jan 2. I'd like to have the replacement nuts in reserve in case eitherof my existing ones break.

From what I can tell it seems they're just adhered to the neck with superglue (CA).

just 2 drops of superglue does the trick.It's also pretty easy to remove in case ya change your mind.

Thanks for the tip mate. CA is has really strong tensile strength and almost no shear strength. So popping it off at an angle should work. I'm real familiar with CA (I make sci-fi models, lot of resin kits and CA is the only thing that works unless you want to monkey around with epoxy) so I'd recommend getting a CA from a model or hobby store, certainly not Krazy Glue or the crap from a department store. Zap-A-Gap and Flash are both very good. RC vehicle shops have a good variety.

you dont need posh glue (in my opinion) for the nut. the strings keep the nut firmly in place. the glue is just there so you can change the strings without the nut falling off :wink:
