Ok, I went back to the beginning of the thread, read the title, read the first post and viewed the video again..............and I can't determine what the topic actually is? I really don't think that first video, in reality, tells us anything at all about why Latinos are the way they are. I thought it was just supposed to be funny. My posts tell a great deal about me. When I am not thinking about bass guitars, I am usually thinking about sex.:D
 
When you think about bass guitars during sex, that is when you need to start worrying.

Ok, maybe I should explain. I'm a pragmatist with a VERY dry, twisted sense of humour. I do make a lot of tongue in cheek jokes (ala the image of the t-shirt saying Bassist are useless..., which is NOT my actual opinion, but as you guys poke fun at my playing an egg-slicer, it's all good fun, or ?)

However, most of the time I do not comprehend what passes for humour these days (especially from the other side of the Atlantic). So what some may consider "negative", to me is just the way things are (?). From my point of view, what I wrote in the second post of this thread could be taken as up-building & fun, rather than negative ?

No doubt that humor is a matter of perspective, and like rectums, everyone has their own. However, what the heck is the egg-slicer of which you speak? I may want to make fun of you as well!;)

An "egg-slicer" is a six (or more) string ACTUAL guitar, not any of these thick stringed bass "guitars" contraptions that most people on this forum play...

Feel free to poke fun, but know that I give as good as I get... ;)

Ahhhhh, I see. I have no problem with treble guitar players. I started on one and still own a couple. I just like the feel of the bass more. I think it is the resonance. You can really "feel" the music.

I am sure all the "poking of fun" here is entirely good natured. At least that has been my experience so far.:)

No seriously, I know it is done good naturedly. And I reply in kind (never meaning to actually insult the other person). It's like the old saying: "A guy can insult his guy friends and not mean it, where as a girl can compliment her girl friends and not mean it." :cool:


What sort of axes did you have ? (please say it's a Framus!) ;)

When I bought the treble guitars I had never even heard of Framus, or Warwick for that matter. The first was a Fretlight acoustic and the other is an Epiphone Matt Heafy signature Les Paul. I had an Epiphone Casino, but passed it on a while back. That was in the beginning of my musical adventures, and I think I got them all on Amazon. I am so ashamed............
 
Put me up on the egg slicer. I think I might share the same misunderstood sense of humour as Hector. People are free to think I'm stupid, I'm fine with that. Playing the bass will support this impression.

I like the minor add9 chord. I'm tall, dark eyed, and fat. Not looking for a partner at the moment. /show ring

Music with groove and proper lyrics, I like that. Groove and bad lyrics, I don't like that as much. Same with only lyrics, I do not like Bob Dylan. Sorry Bob!

I'm with you on the Bob Dylan thing. I respect his skill as a lyricist, but who let that man near a microphone! Dear God! When he sings it sounds like someone is strangling a cat with strep throat!!!!

And I don't think there is anything stupid about playing the bass or being into non "mainstream" music. Most of my friends have never heard of the bands I listen to. All they ever hear is what is being played on "top 40" radio stations. Besides, we all know bass players are just too cool for the masses to understand and appreciate!;)
