The Heads Up Thread

in that year Warwick build some strat style guitars... Hans Peter used them on the music messe (or another music fair) but the story goes the Nobby Meidel was far more popular, so the warwick story began....

Maybe this is one of those guitars...

Possibly... but it just looks like a cheap Strat copy with a dodgy transfer/sticker!

Yep, that was where I'd got to - I'd heard that there where several different Warwick style guitars and basses at that first trade show, but how could one be sure this is one of them? The transfer looks very dodgy, and did Warwick use that logo that early? The Nobby's certainly don't have the W that we're used to, or the font that Warwick use these days.

Agreed, that is an appalling decal ....

I've seen one at the Framus Museum, I guess, and it looked pretty much like that. So My guess - it is genuine.

Do they keep it locked away in a dark cupboard? LOL

I struggle to comprehend why Warwick would produce what looks like just another Fender copy! I've got to say that (IMHO) if it is genuine then it deserves to remain an obscure piece... especially with that horrid logo applied on the wonk. ;0)

It was a time (short time luckily) when Warwick tried to figure out what to do to be in the business.

The Nobby Meidel was the answer - High end bass guitars.
:-)

Er, why is there no serial number on that bass? It does look fairly new, except for the broken JAN2.

Hey everybody! They´re selling Morgoth´s Triple Pickup Thumb on ebay Germany!!!!! Well, as there might not exist so many Triple PU Thumbs I believe it´s his. What you say Morgoth????

Yep, that's the one, I recognize that "clear" bubinga part on the 5th picture, just beneath the electronics cover. Also the lefty truss rod cover haha. And that third pick-up. 56€? Now that's affordable. :D

Didn´t you trade with Florin? So, funny how this Bass is travelling the continent!
If hadn´t already got a 5NT I knew a place where it´d stay for a while. :-))

I wonder who has it now. I sold it to an endorser in Romania, and it was his main bass for almost an year.

As Paul said, it was always working... It was connected to the volume push/pull pot. When pulled it was like a regular thumb, and when pushed it was neck and bridge pickup together.

Great bass!!!

Okay, I see. And I a got a vision: a tandem pot for balance of neck/ middle and middle/ bridge. - WOWs!!!
No, actually I can´t even give it a try. I got a SSII arriving next week. Money´s gone!
