The Heads Up Thread

okok…but €820 for a „real“ Warwick???..if not damaged that “smells”🤗
The text in the add I already saw a couple of times. It was copied. Higher language. But the heading was bad German. Next thing that makes it scam for sure are phone numbers from outside and the only talk about the payment. I had contact with such sellers often enough in the last months. Waste of time sadly.

Unfortunately my german Is not good enough to let me notice the difference between the two lexical registers, but the other things put me on alert of course.. even if part of me wanted to believe a could get a Thumb NT for such a good price 😂

Another 5 String Corvette, claims it is German made, currently at £205 in the UK:

looks legit with the „lake placid blue“ from Clover…they did a lot of „paint jobs“ for Warwick in the 80ies😬

I could very well be wrong, but I'm leaning towards that is not original, nor contracted by Warwick, paint job. Absolutely no marks where the badge would have gone...and other details point towards an aftermarket job; after it's badge was lost.

@Hoggles very sharp observation - coneseur of Nobby ;)
How's the weather at the west-coast ?

Very cool. Great price for a piece of Warwick history. Looks all original, except a little modification done with placement of those 2 strap buttons on the bottom end.

Is that a steal or am I mistaken?

It's a Showroom model.. when I was there in early April I likely saw it high up on the wall, out of reach..

Their Ebony Gibson SG however, while also "out of reach" had a very nasty ding in the finish on the neck.. Obviously someone dropped it....

So, the "some traces of use" may mean it has a few nicks / dings.

But at the price..... :)

Saw this listing on eBay, and I’m wondering if this is a real Warwick, or not. It could be the terrible JPEG compression eBay uses, but it looks like there’s no serial number on the bass. Is it possibly on the top, like the older Warwicks, maybe?

What do you guys think?

normally, Japanese sellers are very good. However, it may not always be the case.

I think I can see a serial on the back of the headstock, but it is either obscured or on the top like on the real vintage ones.

My advice to you is to contact him on EBay and ask questions….

It does say it was manufactured in Afghanistan ;)

They’ve been responsive, and sent all kinds of helpful pictures when I inquired about the string spacing. I asked them if I could see a shot with the serial number, and haven’t heard back yet.

The only thing striking me as being sketchy is that there’s another listing under a different account with almost identical photos. 🤔
