The Heads Up Thread

Here’s a video showing the process. Warwick sells the truss rods at a very reasonable rate, at $600 it’s a fantastic deal I think. As I mentioned I’d be happy to take up the offer if you want to pass!

You got my attention! Who is selling the bass you described?

Richtone Music out of Sheffield, England. The one I posted on the last page. I cancelled the order last week, too fearful that it might get held up or seized at Customs. Richtone wasn't even sure they could get the proper permits for it to leave the EU. Vintage Nobby's have Brazilian Rosewood. It's a little more risky than just CITES Rosewood restrictions/permits.

Deja Vu... Looks like it sold.

Kim, was that you?? Gonna try to get it over to the States?

It wasn't me this time. I can understand your hesitation on that one. I have a '89 Dolphin with the boire body, and would not even consider trying to ship it internationally. The whole CITES thing is apparently causing a bunch of issues and I certainly have no faith in the honesty of custom's officials.

I am in agreement with Hardy on this situation. It just seems odd to me that a shop that specializes in repairs would make an offer that seems contrary to their best interests. But, maybe they just want to turn it over for a quick profit. I don't have any experience with them outside this transaction, so I will take the safe route. However, @Narcdor, I informed Jared in my response that I had a friend that was interested in the bass for $600 as is. I will let you know how he responds.

Is this an early nobby? I don’t know much about them but 1984 seems early.

It's #582. Could possibly be an '84. Though maybe '85 or even a bit later. Not quite sure how many they were making each month when the Streamer and Thumb production started up, in '84 & '85 respectively.

Vintage Nobby's were made until '92, with more than 900 made. The timeline of those is still a little unclear....though this one is what I would consider version #4. It's all Brazilian Rosewood w/Maple stringers, black control cover, rounded top knobs, passive, 24 frets.

Problem with trying to get a Nobby cross international boundaries is the Brazilian Rosewood. This one is selling out of Japan.

Holy.
Shit.

and at one point, before editing, it was at 1500GBP.

Pics or it didn't happen ;)
