The Heads Up Thread

They don't get free CS basses right? A second hand CS would still be better value than a endorsers discount on a new CS? Or does guitar centre "buy" them off you or somthing and give you (pretty much) your money back? This bloke did the same with his brand new stage 2 6 string too, which would normally be like 10k of bass. Not making sense to me

There must be some way the math works out because there is barely ever a point in trading/selling gear to Guitar Center.

Conspiracy theory time: *dons tinfoil hat* perhaps someone at that particular GC is having this guy get these basses so that the GC can sell them, and the sales guy can make good money off the sale (since GC doesn't carry Warwicks anymore....)

Yeah, this SC was indeed for sale from Japan for 9k.

I do want to officially apologize to Alex for assuming it was an Endorser order. Sorry bro.

I am curious though Alex...how much did you pay for it from Japan? Seeing how it's now selling for 4.7k at a Guitar Center in North Carolina. What was the Voodoo magic that caused such a huge price drop?

And can I contact you to handle my Warwick deals?? lol :P

Thanks for being respectful, i have fairly thick skin but Dembonez is riding that line with his inquiry. I can explain:

The price he saw on Ebay was from a reseller who lists items that are for sale locally (in Japan) at different shops for damn near 33 percent markup, if you look at the sellers page on Ebay he has tons of basses listed that are posted from several independent shops. These shops have the actual prices for the basses listed on their home pages for much less than the Ebay reseller, and while its not illegal it is designed to take advantage of a foreigner who wont do a little research and contact the shop directly (like i did). The shop selling the bass in Japan (Miki Gakki) had it for sale at $6500 US, but they heavily discounted it due to a showroom "ding". So in the interest of respecting Warwicks business practices, i will not list that price. I did sell it at a loss, but not near as high as one would think. KevinK has done similiar things in the past at his GC (remember the snakewood thumb 6?), not a unique situation. I did trade it in at a higher price than most people would get, and got another Warwick at a lower price, so it did even it out a bit more.

Keep in mind that i have only ordered one bass with my endorsement, and do regret selling it so quickly, but i took an even smaller loss on that trade-off with GC. There is definitely no money to be had in reselling custom ordered Warwicks, and after spending a lifetime doing what i do to earn a "small" endorsement from my favorite company, I would not violate their trust in that way.

Sounds like some pretty weak delicate skin you have there if I'm able "ride your line" with a simple question about how a price can go from 10k to 5k on the market. Just saying what everyone's thinking,

Anyway, didn't intend for for my inquiry to be insulting so my apologies if you took it that way,

Where I'm from you don't ask those kinds of questions, I wouldn't ask you that. I don't owe anyone an explanation on a forum, but I respect this forum and enjoy being on it so I wrote out an explanation anyway.

Anyway, It's all good man, thanks for the apology...no one on here seems like a bad guy/girl. We have a good community here, much more civil than talkbass...

Thanks for an explanation. You're right, you don't owe anyone an explanation, but you provided some great insight to an area many of us were wondering (and thusly theorizing about).

Now to the real question, what have you picked up lately?

Hummmm kinda makes sense come to think about it,

I did contact one of those Japan Warwick sellers on eBay saying I was interested in a bass they had up and he was very happy and quick to answer, then I found the same bass cheaper at a radom store and when I messaged again through eBay saying is this the bass/price etc they ask for the link, then they just stopped replying and completed ignored me from there on, shame I was prepared to pay what they had it listed for at the store, oh well life continues..

So have any of you guys ever purchased anything from Jauce?

Crazy good price for a '01 LTD Thumb. Nice figuring too. $750usd - 670euro. Even with shipping from Japan, seems like a smokin' deal for someone possibly.

EDIT: *INTACT JAN II..... BUY IT NOW!!!!

I don't know about jauce, I've never brought anything,

I was watching a white Spector euro for $800 aus (it ended up selling quickly) but I was basically too chicken to risk it with this weird site...

If anyone has before, please share your experience:)

All sorta looks legit I guess... And sellers have the option to send to a Japanese distribution centre type place if they don't want to send os. (Like that eBay transport centre thing in the states)

But there appears to be no way to ask a question about a listing, like I'd want to ask them if pal pay can be used etc,

They do have the PayPal logo up top BoneZ.

Yeah I'd love to hear stories if anyone has bought through them. Using their delivery cost estimator didn't fill me with confidence. Said it would cost $75 to ship that Thumb to to the US. Hmmm, not so sure about that....but if true, not bad.

Yeah asking questions is out of the question if you're not fluent in Japanese. Even the English version of their site is 95% Japanese.

We need a resident forum member from Japan. Pronto!!

That PayPal logo only referrs to you loading your money into jauce via PayPal I believe. (I could be wrong)

So to make a bid, you need to load money into your account, (jauce takes a fee) then you use that money you loaded to bid, you can use PayPal to do that.

Not sure about the money transferring to the seller though,
