I recently bought a Profet 3.2 for use as a hire amp at my new rehearsal room business but I'm already running into some problems. Basically the sound keeps cutting out whenever I play anything remotely hard. I'm not what you'd call a subtle player and I tend to hit open chords quite a lot and this causes the amp to cut out momentarily. It seems the only way to prevent this is to turn the gain down to 3. Which leaves me with so little volume (with the master all the way up) that I can't even be heard over the drums, never mind two guitarists. I have an Ashdown MAG 250 4x10 combo also which, despite being less powerful than the 3.2, has never had any problems making itself heard (and which will have to replace the Profet in the meantime).
Also, I have a Tech21 Sansamp Bass Driver pedal. And using this with the 3.2 makes the problem even worse. I don't even have to play through it, the amp starts cutting out intermittantly as soon as the pedal is switched on. This happens both through the FX loop and direct into the input.
I hope somebody can shed some light on this and reasure me that it's a one-off defect because, as it stands, there's really no way the amp can be used in a public rehearsal room context as it simply can't compete at high volume without dying repeatedly in mid-song.
