talking about expensive basses

If I recall right, Mr. Ritter said that all the really expensive basses he makes are actually played. They seem to be truly meticulously constructed to the customer's expectations.
 
I appreciate the luthieryness of them all but not my bag at all - too ostentatious in the body shape, particularly the top horn.

They'd suit Prince a treat though.

I'm not seeing any reason why not ... I'd love to get my hands on it. Most likely it tunes from the back since it's string thru, which could be a little bit awkward, but being FL, you wouldn't bother to tweak the tuning during play.

If I had that ax, it wouldn't be my first black-on-black-on-black FL, nor even my third, but it would be the most beautiful, by at least a coupla light years.

I don't like them at all but I have to admit that the craftmanship is outstanding.

On a Danish forum someone just bought the platinum covered one-piece fretless Royale. It's supposed to play brilliantly!
 
I love the illustrated white one.
 
Ritters are not my thing, I found myself to be more inclined to Jerzy Drozd looks, but must admit that Ritter is a master luthier and makes simply pieces of art

Maybe Ritter should come up with a new line called "Gigable Ritter". I wouldn't be surprised if they were more expensive than the Royal Ritters........ :lol:
 
There's no doubt these Ritters are quality made or they couldn't justify the price, but for my money, I'll take a Warwick Thumb NT with its ergonomic contoured body that looks and feels both sporty and sexy, and that distinct growl and snap like no other...

Or, for more elegance and flair, I think nothing beats a Dolphin Pro I!
 
Ritters are cool basses. I think if you can afford one, your not worried about damaging it by playing it out...

A friend of mine had a Ritter bass. He wanted to sell, it, so I had it 2- 3 weeks at my home. It was very nice built, but... It was pretty old, and the color started to fade. And it looked pretty cheap to see the plastic behind. And the sound was... decent.

Haha! Indeed, I have GAS for a Dolphin Pro I as well as the Streamer Stage I, but when I get my hospital and doctor bills from my heart attack last weekend, I doubt 2008 will be young enough to see either of those dream basses enter my collection. I also have a Genz Benz Shuttle 3.0-10T combo I put a down payment on before my heart episode happened. Gonna pick that up this week...

But it's a good thing to always have a dream bass just out of reach, at least as long as you also have one of your dream basses in possession to tide you over. I think my Thumb NT is my ultimate, favorite dream bass of all time and it's MINE! The Dolphin has a radical shape that I like, but would not fit in with most of the situations I play in. Still, it is such an elegant bass, especially some of the select wood grains I've seen on choice pieces, that I want to dream and GAS for one so bad!

My Swirly Bubinga Streamer Std. also tides me over nicely, but I do miss the contour body, maple neck, and a P pickup that the Stage I entices me with. At least I get those features with my Dirty Blonde Thumb, though it is a fretless...

I guess I don't want to end up like "What do you get for the man who has everything?" It's nice to have good dreams to keep you going... :D
 
In your case, I think it's only healthy to dream about new basses. It's pure energy that fills you with the desire to get better...........GAS away maddrakkett, doctor's order !!! :D
 
The gear you already have Mark is far beyond what most pros will own in their life time.That doesnt stop ya wanting more though eh mate. :wink:
 
the ritter basses are nice but i would like to know how they sound and feel
