Sydney bass day battlefield report

Hey guys,
We had our bass expo yesterday here in Sydney & thought ya's might like some feedback.We all met up a few hours early to set up the bass & amp display,we had about 25 basses on display as well as the amp range including the Jonas Hellborg amp & cabs,these amps are absoletely amazing,you have to hear it to beleive it.I actually got to play one which was awesome.You turn it up full & you get no white noise at all,this amp is silent in the extreme.I also got to play the Streamer $$ made from Australian Blackwood,I dunno who like this bass more,me or Seth but it's a great looking bass with a beautiful tone.
Then it was time for Seth's clinic.For those of you who are familiar with Seth's work from his albums or youtube videos,let me just say,seeing Seth do his thing borders on a religous experience.He can really do things on the bass I never thought possible.His interaction with the crowd was both imformative & bloody funny too.At one stage Seth was giving away strings & T-shirts to the first correct answer to his questions,I think a lady even scored a wall clock.I also got to fiddle with Seth's CS Vampyre before he set up,let me say,the legends are true,it was like holding the holy grail for me.From a Rockbass,to a Thumb NT to a Streamer $$ he had them all on stage & really explained the different models finer points.
After the clinic everyone vacated to the bass display again,I met some really nice folks & talked bass,what more could ya want?All in all it was quite a good turn out & the crowd bought up the discounted strings & accessories like it was a boxing day sale.Everyone that attended received a carry bag with brochures,stickers & info on all things Warwick.I dont think there was any left at the end so I didnt grab one,but I did get a free set of EMP's,Thanks again Anthony.
Now I know ya's like to see lots of pics of these things & I promised I'd take plenty,but I didnt get much of a chance to take too many pics before my batteries went dead,I forgot to get a pic of me & Seth too.I'll post the pics I did take later.
All up it was a really fun day with loads of cool basses & amps,I was in heaven surrounded by all these fine specimens let me tell ya's.It was great meeting Michael,Anthony,Alex & Jackie from Dominant music,I hope to see ya's again soon.Now that Seth has made it out to Australia,I think I'm going to pester him till he comes back.Even if it's just to take that pic I didnt get.

I was just in Australia until the 24th.... it would have been nice to have been able to go to the expo. Oh well, I probably would have bought something I shouldn't have and then my wife would have slaughtered me. The only thing I bought while down-under was a fairly nice didjeridu.
 
Just a radnom question;

do the regular chumps get to play the intruments? I'd love the chance to try a dolphin and an infinity!

Well the Perth one was something that I wasnt expecting... I turned up about an hour early and there was a dealer meeting going on with Seth giving a small clinic and going through with questions from the crowd as well as playing a few songs and seeing Ive spent enough at 3 of the shops supporting, I was allowed in hahah.
The Clinic to the public was something else when Seth's bag eventually turned up and he could get his loop pedal. I said this to Seth and a few other guys that I never thought I could get through a solo bass event.. ever. Ive been to a fair few drum clinics but Seth's had to be the most engaging and entertaining.. Its great to see someone with a great sense of humor up there chatting away.. Theres a couple of bits within the clinic that he'll hopefully do for the other clinics, that were just gold.. completely left field but just hilarious.

Had a chat to Seth afterwards, super nice guy. Dunno if it was an invite or just been told that I should go to the Melbourne shows to try out the gear and watch a few of those clinics.. Im really intrested in the Jonas Preamp after our chat... but Id be fairly broke too hah May as well just put it on the list of GAS to go with the Dolphin/Infinity SN's or Stage 1 5strings. I wanted one of the shirts he was giving away but didnt get it even after a few good questions being put to him... ended up with a Cap, didnt really matter though hah.

Had the chance to play a Dirty Blonde 4string, forgot how nice that bass is.. so light compared to the monsters that are sitting at home.. really nice tone too with the Warwick Neo cabs and a Tubepath 10.1 with Seth's amp settings.. just ran the bass flat and just a super easy bass to play. Was funny to hear Seth's reaction with just the amount of power I put into playing.. that was a kick for me.

Nicely run night by the Dominant boys and was able to catch up with a few people I hadnt chatted to for a while (and at the same time still having the subliminal messages of going to their shops and buying more gear). It had a bit of everything... even the guy I buy most of my gear off had a small punchup with some drunk that threw a Rockstand at him... drunk guy obviously lost that one hahah. Something different and was a good night out.

What's the streamer in the middle? Looks amazing.

I think it has a (Birdseye) Poplar (Burl) body. I think this one was made like a year and a half ago. I think there were other basses with the same wood combination.......................
All the basses are gorgeous by the way................. :D
