Swapping out the old Dunlop straplocks for new Warwick locks

My 1999 Corvette came today (with wenge!!!) and has the old Dunlop straplocks on it. As I already have the straplocks for my '06 Corvette on my strap and I have a spare set of the new Warwick straplocks, I'm looking at changing out the Dunlops, which would allow me to switch basses while using the same strap. Anyone have any wisdom to share before I go at it? Muchas gracias!
 
Do you have the recessed straplocks?
I think using two straps is the easiest solution.
 
No, in both cases they're external posts and designed to accept a locking peg. The problem with using two straps is that I don't have the part that locks into the strap for the 1999 straplocks, but I do have a set of the newer Warwick locks that I could swap out. A nice perk of this swap would be that I could use the same locks (and strap) on both basses. I'll post some pics here in a bit.

Okay, for anyone that cares or that may run into this same issue in the future, I made the switch. In the process, I discovered that the screws holding in the pegs of the '99 are larger than the screws currently used for the Warwick pegs. As such, the new screws were too small and the larger screw was just big enough to prevent the bearings from locking in the grooves. One metal file and a few minutes later... problem solved :) I filed the end of the locks just enough to get them to fit. Now, I can use one strap for both basses. Yay!!!
 
I know it's scary sometimes workin on these beautiful basses, nerve racking... but it's so nice when everything works out ok. I've relocated and added 2nd body strap buttons to my basses, and let me tell you- drilling into that beautiful wood made me sweat! LOL. Needless to say I took my time...

Glad it worked out for you. Find an identical strap and break down and buy another set of locks, it's a faster switch at shows, you'll thank me down the road. ; )

Oh so true :d It's especially nerve-wracking because it's not something that can easily be fixed... however, job done and it's working beautifully, so no complaints.

It actually would be convenient (and probably wise) to get a backup strap, but I can't find another one that I like, let alone another of the exact same one. Just gonna have to bite the bullet one of these days, but for the time being my one strap works perfectly for both basses.
