actually I think a Warwick-Forum custom shop bass like that is in the works! :D :D

I agree completely but I think Zach just says certain things just to make press. You didn't even hear about him when he went solo. Then he comes back with RATM and says someone should kill the president. I think he should be thankfull to be in a country where he can say that someone should kill the president, and as far as I can tell he is not...

21st century USA is one of the weirdest chapters in human history in my opinion............The polarisation is almost unbearable. It's so easy to think in terms of "us" and "them". Now this is always the case whenever people are involved............But it seems to be emphasised a lot more these days.
 
as far as learning german outside of school, i would really really love too, but i have too much on my plate (IB program, outside of school orchestra, 4 different private lessons over three isntruments) i think i have enough on my plate. well, the person i want to run for president is now running... GO NADER!!

I believe the last section is the crux of the matter. This so-called "information age" in which we live is wonderful in many ways, but it has a few downsides, or potential downsides at least, as well. One of those, I believe, is the on-set of 24/7 news coverage, which is 95% politics and 5% actual news. Then the internet opened a whole new world of information possibilities, and suddenly people could know so much more about so much more, with no real effort or study involved. The problem is, that many lack the educational background or historical perspective to fully understand and appreciate what is presented to them outside the often simplistic and/or idealistic context in which the mass media or some blog may offer it.
Instead, they simply gravitate toward whatever worldview or position suits them or their ideals best(and let's face it, we all do this to some degree), and they begin to identify politically with one party or another, one ideology or another, etc. almost exclusively. And many then assume if they are "right," and indeed they MUST be....then everyone else MUST be "wrong." And that divide just grows wider and the differences grow more pronounced. And that rarely ends well...

But then look at this thread. You can witness everything from almost jingoistic patriotism to effusive praise for Karl Marx in the same discussion. There is something you just don't see every day!!
Yet still, it has all remained pretty peaceful...so maybe there is indeed hope yet! 8)

i live in the philippines, a 3rd world country that considers BB yamaha series basses as "high end" ... yes, thats how bad our economy is.

i would like to expound on it, but it would be very boring ... so think of it this way:

"in america you have access to all the basses made in the world (at least the good ones), in the philippines, there is only 1 mom and pop store that retails EB MM stingrays ... if thats the siutation of our bass gear, what more our political, educational and social situation?"

feel lucky you are in america... because believe it or not, i dont actually hate my country (if you were here, you'd really hate it cause this country doesnt have the comforts USA offers) ... i dont depend on politicians to make a change, rather, i make it a point to start small changes that can make my life and the ppl who are near me, better.

and oh, as much as you hate illegal immigrants... we also have a lot of "american capitalists" who take advantage of our natural resources and crushing small local businesses in the process ... so i guess everywhere you go, you can always find things like this and beat yourself up with it till you are depressed and angry.

whenever i feel these things, i always remember this line from a cure song:

"The wold is neither fair nor unfair, the idea is just for us to understand."

Hope that line would work with you too :)
