Let's face it, america sucks. i hate the way its run, the assholes that are here, i hate the dumbshits that waiste supplies here. as we continue our crappy politics, and a presidential election coming up, our "canidates" are stating what we need to do. well, barack obama stated we need to adapt to the foreign imigrants almost invading our country so they can live here. we need to put everything in spanish now, and they won't need to learn english. BULL FARKING SHIT!! no other country does this (to my knowledge). you guys all know english because its either your native toungue, or you learned it in school (by choice). now here, every school doesn't offer other languages, just spanish and english. i had hopes of actually learning german, and then going to germany, working for porches (now warwick , i used to like cars). but we cut german from the options. also, to add to the list of bull shit, we don't start foreign language until middle school. MIDDLE SCHOOL!!! i'm still fumbling through french two because my more developed brain has a farking hard time getting my head around it (according to studies).another thing they want to do is raise minumum wage. i would like to see that work. all that is gonna cause prices to go up, and our favorite local shops aren't gonna be able to pay the higher wages, thus causing them to close, then leaving only wal mart, guitar center, and other big retail stores the only ones left.
my country is full of assholes, someone send me to germany or something and let me hang with you...

I couldn't agree with you more... Although it's not the country that sucks... It's the government and those who "run" the place.

Personally I think if anyone is going to migrate here they should learn to speak english... Because I know if I goto another country that doesn't speak english I'm going to be expected to speak theyre language... Why can't it be like that here?

I hate walking into a store to buy something and am greeted by someone who knows absolutely no english at all! Or what about the businesses that illegal immigrants from down south that work for only a few bucks an hour? I hate saying thing... But I will (does southpark voice) They stole our jobs! When I use to live down in Bakersfield, CA , You wont believe how many construction jobs I couldn't obtain because they would hire an illegal at half the price they would pay me, And everything would be done under the table so our mighty government wouldn't find out...

I could go on and on about how twisted and messed up the people are that run this country... But I'll save it for a little later

I surely don't want to start airing out my politics here - it's just never a good idea and not why I come here in the first place. But I feel compelled to add this. America is definitely a land at a serious crossroads...demographically, culturally, socially, and indeed politically in the broadest sense. Many folks outside America have a very skewed vision of what America is all about - many inside even more so!
While it is true that the Government does not necessarily represent the people, it is also not quite true to say it does not. This is the inherent trouble with modern "democracies."

The current presidential election seems to highlight this apparent dichotomy very well. Most Americans are swift to vocalize discontent with the current politicial situation in America - left, right or center. Yet, these same individuals line-up, almost robotically to support the seemingly "annointed" candidates they neither really believe in or feel best-suited for leadership. Much is said and made of voting for the "lesser of two evils" and similar platitudes, depending upon one's particular worldview. But few seem to see the obvious disconnect between incessantly moaning about "change," and voting for candidates who derive from the very establishment that is largely responsible for the issues they wish to change - either directly or indirectly.
And thus, the cycle not only continues, but it virtually guarantees that no real "change" is likely at all. And secretly, I fear many are quite content with that.

It is a strange time to be alive. In my age bracket(late 30's) I commonly encounter people who express utter dismay over the direction of their country...but seem utterly helpless, if even clueless as to how exactly to "fix" the problems. So they just "play along" quietly. After all, only "extremists" and radicals rock the boat - not good citizens. It's all quite peculiar really...

its just the way the whole world is going. some people what to move to our country for the fredom and the awesome country it is, so they move to a country that is better and theres then they continue there way of life and try to change our culture to there own.
i love the australian culture and lifestyle!
they try to make a new india or new iraq or lebanon, etc in our country and we like things just the way they are.
im not a racist, and im quite happy for people of any race to come into my country and learn the language BUT i just dont like it when they try to change the lifestyle and culture we love so much! i find it disrespectful and it offends me deeply.

as for politics, i dont get it, thats none of my business :lol:

All I can say is that anyone will be better than old George Bush.

It's nice to see people passionate about politics too. It seems a lot of people are apathetic to the whole process.

Plus, it seems that most people who complain don't vote, which is ironic.

Although Andrew is too young to vote (i think), which is great, since it's hard to get young people involved or even interested.

I kinda like the world,apart from the wars of course.We have the internet,I remember when we didnt,it was terrible.We have some amazing bass gear that's affordable to everyone,which will only get better.There's life after diseases that were once considered,untreatable.
To everything there's a downside,but that makes the upside so much better.
We should have a weekly thread on the woes of the world.Or then again,we can forget that sh#t & talk about what's really important,Basses!!! :lol:

I agree with you entirely, except perhaps on one level. All those things we like about our world aren't guaranteed to, or perhaps even likely to remain intact over time, if we lose sight of the "bigger" issues and focus only on the "good stuff" if you will. At least 80% of "politics" really is just distraction, noise and nonsense. It's that 20% or so that is often hidden behind all the grandstanding, speachmaking and ideological squabbling that I am concerned about.

Than again...maybe it will all work itself out in the end. Mankind has survived a staggering array of calamity intact...so who knows. Now about those basses...

That was a good one. Germany has exactly the same political issues like you said you have in the US. But with your oppinion you would be pretty much alone. Minimum wages are good stuff, it's good for you to learn spanish if like (guessed) half your population speaks spanish - and for sure they will have to learn english. Don't really know the US situation, but considering you would have said exactly the same things about germany, i would only have to say: Wait till you have grown up a bit

I suspect many people think their own particular country is run by a**holes! If you go to another country you'll only take your baggage with you!

If you study history, you'll find that the same paranoia and anxieties (such as xenophobia) have been successfully exploited by tyrants and megalomaniacs for thousands of years. Now that we can all communicate far more effectively (thanks to the internet and to the fact that so many non-english speakers have taken the trouble to learn the language), it's time we put a collective stop to this nonsense!

+1!! I will fully admit that America has its problems, but a real eye-opener was when my wife and I travelled to Belarus and visited some orphanages. Pretty horrifying, and I'm sure other third world countries are even worse. Even the 'normal' areas highlighted the vast difference between east and west Europe. Only good thing that came of it was we ended up adopting a beautiful little girl from Belarus!
