With Mark Ronson ?
Stu Zender is my favourite bass player EVER and he's one of the reason I'm playing Warwick nowadays. But I'm not a big fan of what he's doing with M. Ronson. Still it's great to see him back on stages and so on, but I'd rather see him in a band that doesn't play cover songs... :wink:

Damn am i sooo disappointed. He didnt't play. But he was there alright. I think he came alone.
At first when i got there at 10pm, the regular house band was playing, and my friend and i didn't know if our source of intelligence was fake.. until i saw some of the big local names in the music scene here. We stayed and hoped for the best until we finally saw this bald guy taking pictures with the local celebs.
It wasn't till 11.30 when one of our guys got on stage and announced that he was there in the house. He then invited Zender on stage but he refused! In the end, 2 of our local guys took the bass, along with other guest musicians.
I guess Stuart has disappointed the local musicians hoping to jam with him. The guy who invited him up to play must feel really embarassed.
But then again he isn't obliged to play isnt he?

Stu is my favorite bassist these days as well, but I'm bummed that he abandoned Warwick for his Fender '64 P-Bass. 
The tone and playing on the first three Jamiroquai albums is legendary...
Too bad to hear he wouldn't play. I thought musicians were being more open to opportunities for connecting with the fans...

Ok, from his perspective imagine getting up on stage with a bunch of bassists hanging on your every note - regardless of how good you are, that's got to be a pretty intimidating thought.
He may also be incredibly humble/shy as opposed to egotistical and that's why he didn't want to get up.

I agree, don't judge him without knowing the full facts.
I was recently asked to play on stage with a band who were playing a song that I produced and played on on one of their earlier albums. I refused as I'd had a skinfull of ale and couldn't remember the track anyway.
This could be a very similar situation.

Yeah, AZUR was pretty good... it's a shame it was never commercially released!

A bit of an analogy here. Dan Aykroyd lives near where I used to live and goes to the local clubs now and then. He came by the club we were playing at years ago, he always has a harp or 2 with him, between sets we asked if he'd blow on our next set starter song, a blues jam. He said he'd try, bottom line is he got swamped by the other people in the place. He did have the decency to let us know he couldn't stick around. Wish he could have made it, but I understand why he couldn't.
