Strings?

I've heard the Hellborgs are tight and rough.
The Millers are slinky and smoother. Thats all.

Well .... seeing how they do the whole winding
wrap in just one layer, the lower strings have
gotta be wound in some really thick wire, which
acoarst means great huge valleys and canyons
between the turns of wire, no matter how tight
it is. It does seem these are a prime candidate
for pressure winding [wire squoze to oval, 1/2
flattened cross section during wind-on].

The Hellborgs are rough but they are so much more responsive than any other strings I have ever played. What your fingers do to them really effects the tone more than anything. They are tight fitting light gauge strings, so that you have a lot more control over them and can really make vast differences in tone without touching any controls, even my pickup balance knob feels useless now because I can change more with just my fingers than anything using these strings.

I never understood the appeal of getting strings that would make it so you would develop less calluses. I always thought thicker calluses was a good thing...

I am not even going to say anything regarding last post. I guess he covets both... the Thumb Bass for its sound and also the thumb finger because I remember he mentioned something about cracking his own's.
