I was curious about what constitutes a "low string height"

For those who like a low string action, what is your string height measurement from the top of the 12th fret to the bottom of the string?
What is the same measurement at your 24th fret?

I realize that it all relates to a persons technique and such but I am trying to determine generally speaking, what is a "low string height" or "low action"

Any ideas?

about 2mm on the thickest string and 1.5 mm on the thinnest string, measured at the 24th fret. That's what I use and is also what was recommended to me by Tyler at dana b. goods.

What is the common neck relief in mm if i was to check it while holding down the string at the first and 12th fret and checking the gap at the 6th or 7th fret ?

Hey, Lowriders 8) . I'm playing in diferent tunings : drop A-tuning for low-B string, drop D-for E, drop Bb or drop A & drop D at same time, bisedes standart tuning. Is it posible to do this on 2,0 - 1,5 mm action?
Now my action 2-2,5 mm.
 
It depends on your technique, but I think you need a higher action for your drop tunings.
Anyway, it takes 30 seconds to lower the whole bridge, why don't you try it?
 
Yes I'm trying, to do it some times, but B&E strings loosing their tension and buzz chocks notes in 8-12 frets area. So I'm return to more "high" settings - 2-2,5 mm.
By the way, Florin. I find that action on 12 fret approx.= action on 24 fret.:shock: !

It is possible that for your setting to be equal. If you raise the action more, they will not be equal anymore :-)
 
You are right, man. :lol: And, what apprrox. I must have at 24 fret? if I raise strings to 2,4 - 3,0 mm at 12 fret?
I'm realy want to raise the strings to get more full sound, but can't deal with neck relief.
 
You cannot change the relief between 12 and 24th fret. So, it doesn't matter how is the action at 24 th fret :-)
It is easy really. Set your relief as Seth said. Then set your action for each string make them equal to the fret. And then set your action using the Whole bridge, until you are comfortable. The numbers are not important here :-)
