Streamer $$ vs Corvette $$

Hello MusicMan...

I'm interested in these models, too. According to the descriptions, they use the same woods and electronic. The main difference is the body shape (and price) : curved for the Streamer ; flat with a long upper horn for the Corvette ( a bit less comfy because of that).

But remember you can easily customize each one with a lot of options in the Custom Shop dpt.

The Corvette $$ has an ovangkol neck, the Streamer $$ has a maple neck.

Ah yes, you're right. I forgot the Streamer maple neck and made the mistake with the Jazzman one.
I must be a bit upset because I promised last week to my music dealer that I will order my new bass tomorrow... and still hesitate between several models !!!!

Having heard again the Corvette $$ (ash) , it definively has greats sounds : snapy slap like a super modern Jazz Bass, and the neck pu is not so muddy. I' m thinking about a Custom shop ash Corvette with a maple top (+ 3-band EQ) in order to have the same huge growl of the Jazzman...

I`m at the same issue too. I just got the prices from my dealer on Streamer and Corvette $$, and they are the same now.

It`s just maple vs ovangkol neck.. What to choose?! For me, I like the maple neck a lot, and I think, as Florin has mentioned, it`s a bit clearer and maple adds more growl.

+ I dig the Streamer shape. With burgundy red and black hardware..mmmmmmm!

I thought everyone, except Warwick, uses a maple neck. Hell my 150 bone Kay has a maple neck. I thought the ovangkol was a big differentiating factor. Maple, ash? Get a Rockbass man, save a few bones and get some beer.

I swear, I almost shot soda out of my nose as I read that! Thanks, Doog!

But yeah, I totally agree. I remember the manual used to say what makes Warwick basses special is "an ovangkol or wenge neck with a wenge fretboard..."

In this combination, I think the maple neck makes the Streamer $$ growlier than the corvette $$.

Metaphysical question : wich one would be the growliest ? The maple necked Streamer $$ or a Corvette $$ with an extra Maple top ?

I have to agree with Florin here. Maple neck and as body makes some very growly basses (think of the stingray for an example). Ash and maple are very hi mid forward woods (well to my hears) and this emphasis helps with the growl (a bit in the same way that ovangkol and wenge emphasis the same frequences). They pair very nicely.

I would have to say that The streamer is more growly than the corvette. Being a corvette $$ owner myself, I sometimes have a hard time getting that legendary growl. It can be done though.

I usually go to passive mode with the rear pickup on single, and play only with the bridge pickup. Another option is to stay in active mode, isolate the rear pickup in single coil and turn the treble all the way down and cut the bass a little bit. IMO, I like the active sound better (Less finger noise) but there isn't as much output as there is in passive mode.

Here's a video I found with the Corvette $$. This is about as growly u can get on the corvette $$. (pay extra attention starting 15 seconds in)

Is the corvette $$ slightly cheaper? I think the streamer shape is more my thing.

I think Corvette $$ with maple body :-)

Not sure it's what you meant, but a full maple bodied $$ with an ovangkol neck and wenge fretboard (ala Streamer LX) would be an absolute growl monster...

i have a vette nt and everone told me it would have very little growl
hate to say it but everone lied maple dose give a growl but its higher i find and the ovangkol is a more low mid growl thats just with my basses anyway
