Streamer LX4

hi.

I have just traded my Status Eclipse 5 string in to a Streamer LX, other than its supposed to be a great bass, i know nothing about it.
anyone wanna tell me something about it? i couldnt find it on the warwick site..

on the other hand, im probally gonna sell it soon to finance a Buzzard Bolt on(to be honest, im a little pissed at warwick for taking back all rights to the buzzard design..) tributes should be made by the company the player used.. (sorry, my little rant)

That's okay mate, no one here likes the Buzzard anyway!

The Streamer LX isn't on the Warwick site because the LX series was discontinued a couple of years ago. Now adays you can either only get the 5 and 6 string versions as broad-necks or order the classic LX through the custom shop. Could you post some pictures of it? That would be awesome!

Ill post picks of it when it arrives, he probaly ships it on monday, and i ship my status the other direction.

It was made in 2005? does that mean its a custom shop model then? it have some sort of burst finish.

What you guys have against the Buzzard anyway? i think that "Bloody Dark" one at the Custom shop looks awsome! im not sure how it will fit with the standard warwick bolt on head though...

No one really dislikes it. That was just a joke. It's just not as popular with us as the Streamers, Thumbs and Corvettes are.

If it was made in 2005 it's definitely a custom shop bass. You should post a picture and the serial number so we can determine exactly what it is.

John Entwistle did use Warwick basses,in fact he left Alembic to play Warwick,namely the Buzzard that he & HP designed.Later Status built graphite Buzzards that sound incredible,imo.
He was also a prolific collector of basses,guitars etc.Owned & played many many different brands,I dont think John was an endorsee for any company,he paid full retail price for his status buzzards to support the company.Tim Harden is the Buzzard manwww.buzzardbass.com

btw I must add that the late John Entwistle was my very first bass hero,I still play rotosounds & only started because John was on the pack.His legacy will live on in musos,fans & every Who fan for generations.

Thank god you got in there before i did thumperton, my jaw dropped to the floor when i saw that comment about warwick copying the buzzard design! my e-fists where about to go flailing!

speaking of the mighty entwistle, johns book "bass culture" is a fantastic purchase for anyone interested solely in John himself or his amazing collection! the warwick section in particular is a stand out, it features two of the very first thumb basses entitled the warwick "try it out" basses, a gorgeous 6 string streamer bizarrly with a "thumb bass" truss rod cap, and of course pages of the buzzard, including first developments of the instrument, including different body woods and fretboard designs and most impressivly showcasing the evolution of the gun grip! quality read!

and to the thread starter, good job on packing in the status, but risky move jumping straight to an LX without playing one, my LX certainly didnt do it for me, and it was out the door a couple of months after it came in, i hope you however find something you like in it, as for the buzzard i wouldnt play one the design isnt me, but im very interested in how it sounds, after all if a legend like entwistle had a say in it, it must sound fantastic.

The Streamer LX broadneck actually only comes in 4 & 5 string only.Oh,& I like Buzzards very much.

No, it only come in 5 and 6-string versions. Check the Warwick site. If it would be availible as a 4-string, you wouldn't have to order it over the custom shop.

Hah! You're right. There is a mistake in the Warwick catalogue. I never noticed that before. Then again, this thing is full of mistakes. Check out the bad German to English translation on the back of the catalogue.

I didnt mean that Warwick Copyed the Buzzard design, but that Entwistle played Status basses to his death, and that his "sig" should come from a brand he hadnt used for 10 years was a bit wrong.
i should probaly have said "taking back all rights to the design" im sorry.

For me the LX cant be worse than the Staus, i do in fact hate 5 stringers

and the LX is realy something i traded for somethings thats easier to sell than the status...

Sounds great! plays great to, im not sure if it feels better than my G&L, i need to play the streamer more(the L2000 is definitively more powerfull, but i think the PP buzzard can sound closer to the power of the L2000), but this is something different than that greasy, dirty, dead stringed FNA jazzman they have on the local store

the neck is so fast and so smooth! i can never go back to basses with gloss or "in between" Satin Finish.... great neck!

sYmon: well.. im not sure if i would call it a jazz bass(but i have only owned 2 jazz basses, non of them "standard", one Louder jazz bass copy(my first bass) and a Geddy Lee Jazz, the streamer is deffinitive a more powerfull and clearer sounding bass, where the geddy at times just where fretbuzz)
