Streamer LX

Hi,

I've owned a Streamer LX Fretless 4-string for quite some time now. I played it a lot in the beginning, but somehow neglected it for the last years and instead used some cheaper basses (yeah, don't ask).

I got into playing (and taking care of it, hadn't been waxed for some years(!), fretboard has never been taken care until last week) again, and relaized I really don't know much about it. Searching the forum, I could find out by the serial number that it's from late 1997 - but what wood is it made of? Is there anything special about it? Any ideas? I've got a picture of the body at Flickr:





I could take more pictures if needed.

Well bud, I think I detect a very slight flame on the body there. I'd say it's maple. It also looks to be in really good condition for something that hasn't been out in a while. Whether there's anything special about it... I'd reckon that's for you to answer :wink: . ~M~
 
They used cherry for a while in the late 90's on Streamers,if I remember right.

Me too.
It's strange because Cherry was used for the very first Streamer boltons, around 1993-1994.
 
I guess I've been overruled on this one but I can't remember ever hearing of flamed cherry, and there most certainly are light but distinct flames on that top... between the treble and balance knobs, and opposite them on the body as well as on the upper bout next to the fretboard. Is there such a thing as flame cherry? ~M~
