Streamer 5 $$

Hi all,

first of all the Streamer $$ i just bought amazed me (sound and look).
Bad thing was that one of the pickups broke just 1 hour after i got...
the lower screw of the pickup (better the thing that holds the screw) broke out of the wood. I gave it back to the store and the got me a brand new one in 3 weeks time. So far so good.
Now i got it back and played one session with it. Sounds perfect and feels perfect but i found one strange thing(quite hard to explain in english):

The metal part where you can adjust the hight of the strings (bridge?) is carved in the wood.
On the side that points to the upper side of the bass (not to the 2 band equilizer) you can see under the bridge because it is too high. i wonder if this is normal (as the corpus is not flat but round) or if that should not be like that.

If will try and make a picture later on, maybe you can let me know if that is normal on a streamer 5 $$.

Try zeroing every adjustment. Lower the pickups as far as they will go, then the bridge, then the saddles, and the nut at the headstock. When all that is done, check the neck relief and adjust as necessary. Once the neck is properly set, begin slowly raising the bridge until the B and G strings just clear the frets at the pickup side of the fretboard. Then raise the nut until the B and G just clear the frets at the nut. Then set the string radius and spacing to your preference on the bridge, then raise the pickups until the output from both is balanced when fading between them. Recheck the neck relief, bridge height, nut height, and intonation. Fine tune as necessary. 8) ~M~

Yes, this is normal, and I really find it sexy But as I can see from here the setup might not be properly made, Are the strings following the neck curvature? It seems to me like tle G and B saddles should be lower than that.

Seems to me that the pickups are way too high too. These humbuckers are very powerful, and may cause magnetic interference with the strings if too close too them.

thanks for your thoughts!

I have zerod all parts. The strings were than (of course) too low (nearly bound to the neck).

I raised the "Just a nut" and the bridge until the strings sounded clean (without touching the neck while playing).
Also i lowered the pick ups.

I will report how that sounds next time we play.

I am a little disapointed from my store as the promise a perfect configuration (done by their bass proffessional).

Anyway thank you all for your help!

Sounds like you've done the right thing... you may find you need a bit of a truss rod adjustment... but wait and see! It's unusual because both of my Warwicks were set up really well (presumably in the factory) and have stayed rock solid. I've only needed to make slight adjusments when I've changed string gauge.

On the other hand... the climate is quite stable here (rotten, but stable), maybe yours needed some adjustment. Or maybe the guy who did it in the shop is a total muppet and bodged it up!
