I think as long as you keep the wengé neck/afzelia body + JJ pups you'll get the SS II sound, whatever top wood you pick up. On this basis a lot of combinations are possible, the depth of yoour wallet is the limit.:)
Regarding this aspect goncalo alves (aka tiger wood) is very interesting as it looks great whithout being ridiculously pricey, unlike burl woods... Bubinga pommelé too is interesting, a bubinga/afzelia SS II would probably be the ultimate tone monster ! :eek:

IMO - ewwwww what's the point of getting a wick if you're just gonna make it a 7ender? i know people have their preferences but come on!

I shot this bass last week, and had a play of it. It's amazing!

That is not a Fender, it is a Wick... A pickguard will not change the animal inside :)
 
Not really reviewing, but I have had the wonderful opportunity to do some photography work on some gorgeous instruments lately! I'm very lucky!
