900 is the price of the LED's alone...
 
Warwicks Signature politics are (became) quite different from other brands. I think we learned this throughout the last years... And I fully agree with them - why should Warwick make signature models with their cheapo-rockbass line? Where's the point on only putting a name on a bass? Signature basses are not made for us to buy them, but they are designed as custom works for great bass player - and we have the OPTION to buy them with exactly the same specs.
So you could make a signature PNUT-Rockbass, but why? Pnut wouldn't be playing it... so it wouldn't be a signature bass...

But afaik the Zender model is gonna have some rockbass-clone - that's okay imo because its shape is completley new, not only custom woods and PUs.
 
I agree that cheap-o sigs are a bad idea. I remember seeing a lot of LTD "signature guitars" that pretty much give the artist a bad name. A good example are the Hammet sigs that are cranked out that have different woods, pups, hardware, construction standard neck profile etc. rubbish and misses the point of a signature instrument. Someone who is willing to pay thousands for a Rockbass with LEDs and Sam's name on it has REALLY missed the point of owning a wick. Most of us (i'm pretty sure) get these things for the sound and feel of them. Anyone is better off getting a Wick LX or SSI instead of a LED loaded RB.
 
Ryan Martinie's bass has stainless frets for aesthetic reasons :-)

If & when we do actually see Asian built signature basses,I think they'll defiantly have the exact same specs,but it'll be cheaper coz of the reduced labour rates.Like the Pro series Korvette.It's the exact same bass,but a grand cheaper coz of the reduced labour costs.
I really couldnt see Warwick offering a signature bass with a single different feature.It's just not in keeping with the overall philosophy.

Changing the woods, the neck joint and the electronics of a signature series bass to make a cheaper version is basically making a COMPLETELY different bass. ALl the things (tonal wood choices, etc) that make the sig series bass special will be replaced by different stuff. You couldn't convince a blind and deaf man that both basses are similar enough to both be a signature series.
