A bloody obvious question, and the answer is of course YES in my, at this moment, not so humble opinion.
I am hoping many of you will vote YES, so hopefully, we'll be able to enjoy awesome soundclips of all Warwick basses (bass only, no drums, no guitars.....), right here at www.Warwick.de !!! :D

DO NOT LET ME DOWN FELLOW WARWICK-BROTHERS !!!!!!
 
even cooler if its by someone we actually know from the forum.

alternativly we could all send in clips and make a gallery of all the different basses :D
 
I mean if Fender has soundclips on their site then it should be a must for Warwick. :D

It would really help in choosing the right bass.
 
I know Wal basses have such a thing on their site; people playing Wal basses can send in their audio clips. The big problem I have with this is that each clip is recorded differently, hence the sound quality will all be different. The result is that you're not gonna get a clear idea of how one bass sounds compared to the other. I prefer soundclips of bass only, and all basses recorded in the same way. Only then, in my opnion, you'll get a clear unbiased idea of how each bass sounds like...........


P.S. it's 4-0 in favour of "YES", only after 5 minutes; yeah !!! :D

very true thats much more useful with a view to comparing. but listening to just loads of warwick no matter how they're played/recorded would still be cool
 
Absolutely true Stroud,

it is very cool indeed; I have already downloaded e.g. bassoctopus' soundclips of his Thumb and SSI........

Finished mixing that album last weekend (apart from the inevietable tweaks that the band and my co-producer will want), mastering is at the end of this month, then I may upload some more tasters in a vain attempt to sell some records ;)

Bass sound is really good on the album, I'll let you guys guess which bass I ended up using for that track ;)
 
BTW I'll do the recording for Warwick for free, they just need to send me each and every one of their basses to do it ;)

I can assist you with fine tweaking the album: I'll tell the drummer:"Yeah, it sounds really good...........but can you play a little softer ?? just a little more..................just a little more...........**until you can't hear the drummer anymore**...........excellent !!..............now here's 5 bucks, could you please get Mr. bassoctopus a cool can of coke please ?? Thanks !!!"

..................I know.......it's not very realistic.......... :oops:
 
This is an interesting idea, but you must keep in mind that a bass does not have "one sound"... each bass is made to give a RANGE of tones... if you were to put up soundclips for each bass that accurately showed the range of tones, you have to have, like, eight buttons for each bass!

(Page One: all basses played through a TubePath 5.1 set flat... this is the Katana BO with the tone knobs set flat... this is the Katana BO with the bass knob boosted half-way... this is the Katana BO with the bass knob boosted all the way... this is the Katana BO with the treble knob boosted half way... this is the Katana BO with the treble knob boosted all the way... now moving on to the Katana NT...)

And what about different amps?? This idea would require an entire website of it's own... I wouldn't hold my breath. :(

you da man: that's a great idea you have: dozens of soundclips for just one bass !!! :D

Seriously, good call though.........I do wonder, if you just use a "standard amp", all EQ set flat, you will get to hear one sound of the bass. However, you should get an overal impression of how that particular bass is like, compared to another bass...........or not ?? To me it's not about all the sounds one can get from a particular bass, but more like what the "basic" sound is like...........

Pretty much like what Line6 has got for their variax bass demo:



Even if they are just 10 second clips, you get a decent impression of the instrument........
 
Seth is right here, I guess :-) Can be cool tho...
But you can make a decent idea, if ONE person, is playing different instruments, with the same setup, and the same groove.
 
Yep, standardisation..........

Same guy, same setup, same amp, EQ flat for both amp and bass guitar, bridge/neck pickup knob centred, same groove. 20 second finger style, 20 second slap style.......and I'm a happy boy :D
 
Well, THAT sounds doable... I'll ask them about it at Frankfurt at the end of this month, and maybe we can do a bunch of recordings at some point when I'm out there later this year... I'd have a blast making that kind of demo... :)
 
i can't think of a better guy to do the recordings either! seth, you're the man!
 
What about if we locked Seth in a room with a Tubepath 5.1 & 411 cab with everything set flat & feed him one bass per hour till he's done them all.Oh,& that includes meals too,cant expect a man to work on an empty tummy now.No beer though,we dont want him getting too carried away. :wink:
