Saddle problems.... Help please!!!

Everytime I pluck my d-string, the piece of the saddle that the string on rests comes right with it. (See image below.) This is making it extremely difficult to play and if my string breaks, the piece goes flying with it as nothing is holding it in place. Can anyone help me out here?
 
This used to happen to me all the time. The problem was always that the screws that the saddle rested on were uneven.

Take the string off, then hold the bass up and look down its length with your eyes right at the bridge; I'm guessing you'll see that the saddle of your D string is at a slant.

Use your alan wrench to tighten the lower side until that end of the saddle is even with the other again. Then put the string back on, use a tuner to check the string's intonation (see the post on that in the Tips and Tricks section), and you'll probably be good to go.

If not, take two aspirin and get back to us. :P
 
I was having issues like that with my A string saddle. Sometimes my A string would rattle when plucked hard and I couldn't figure out what it was, until a recent string change knocked that saddle piece out.

A few twists of that set screw with an allen wrench and I'm in business. The saddle's in tight and the A string doesn't rattle.

I must say, the versatility of the Warwick bridge is a wondrous thing.
