Economic downturns usually lead to a slump in purchases of luxury goods, and handmade German Basses definitely find their way into that category!
If thats what we go on, the economic slump is likely to continue for the next 4-5 months at least, as the market settles after the subprime crisis, or perhaps even years if we continue to see writedowns, losses and closures becuase of it.
Tghe federal reserve recently had to provide guarantees backing the sale of Bear Sterns stock to JP Morgan at massively discounted rates...the last time the fed had to take action that drastic was...
...april 1930. Just a few months before the great depression kicked in.
...could be a Buyers marlet for some time then!
