Reselling value is defined by people, more than the direct selling value.
At the moment there's just the situation that Fender's are extremly popular with the people (again! there was a time nobody would buy a Fender for today's prices) - maybe it will change, maybe not.

Warwick has become quite expensive in the USA. At first, I'd say it makes sense that either the resale value will go up, or people will not spend a large sum of cash on a new Warwick anymore, and sales will drop............Or not ??
Being in the US, this does concern me a little. I never mind spending extra for quality and goodness knows Warwick has that covered. But I also always find comfort in the back of my mind that something that retains at least a fair percentage of its value is a good investment too. Of course being very fond of Corvettes. this isn't quite as much of an issue for me cost/value-wise...but it seems when you move up into pricier 'Wick models, the drop-off is that much steeper.
To be fair though, this hardly seems unique to Warwick though.

well Alembics have worst resale value actually... which i think is a good thing, so i could get one someday.
i think wicks and alembics are basses you either hate or love... not like foderas, where everyone loves. thats one of the reasons why the resale value is such.
as for fenders, well, they are cheap in the first place... if you resale them 20% off, they would be very cheap already... unlike those high end wicks where 20% will still make them unaffordable to most ppl.

All music equipment seems to drop 50% as soon as it's been bought new - look at the price of second hand amps
There is significant mark up at music shops, but also plenty of people who want to buy new stuff.
I've only bought one new bit of bass gear in 20 years - my Trace Elliot 4x10 and I still have it 15 years later

Give it another 20/30 years and I think the price will go up as Warwicks become more popular to the general public and become the new standard.

Yeah, I regret not pulling the trigger on a Custom Shop bass 3 months ago, because the quote is $800 higher now for the same bass. Um, not gonna happen. I suspect the used values will go up a bit, because most people will not be willing to spend the cash on new Warwicks. Either that or they will find a different brand all together...

It's not just W basses that are like this,look at cars,especially luxury/prestige cars.I'm glad I sold my BMW when I did coz I'd be getting less than half of that today.Unfortunatly,our ecenomic system is always either in boom or bust.We could adopt a system that does do this but the rich would get very pissed off about that.
