There's a lot of good basses out there.

I'm just not a fan of the Hofner Beatle Bass.
 
Me neither, and to prove it, I can tell you that a few years ago, a guy wanted to sell me a vintage one with 150 EUR, and I did,t took it, I thought it was ugly.
Later I found out the real price :)

Are you sure it was the real thing, and not something like a Jay Turser ??
 
I remember cristal clear . Actualy there like 10 years ago, and it was about 150 Deutsche Marks :-)) And it was the first time I saw a hofner, I believed it was Hohner spelled wrong.
 
Those Hofners do command a high price these days.

But then some people will collect anything, like barbed wire for example.

Come to think of it, Howard Huges even collected & saved his own urine!

I have got 3 Warwicks and one Fender, and i Just can use the fender for sounds that anyone of my Warwicks would never be able to produce.
Yes we maybe are a Warwick Community, but before warwick Players we all are bass players, so why flame Brands just because they dont have the same sound as Warwick?
 
True enough, Blockrocker. Like you, my only other non-Warwick bass is a Fender '57 P-Bass reissue, and there's probably a lot of us that have a Fender stashed away. For me it's a cool bass because it has the vintage vibe to it. But for me the Thumb Bass is as good as it gets.

As I mentioned, there are a lot of cool basses out there, and different things work for different people. My apolgies to Hofner fans for me picking the Beatle Bass as my favorite whipping boy.

As you said, we are first and foremost Bass players.
 
I don't think I'm ever going to own a Hofner,

but I sure like to try one....................like 100 other basses. :lol:
 
Those Violin Basses are really cool, but very different to other basses in terms of handling. The Neck is just extremely thin, and you honestly dont know at first where to put your thumb during finger picking. But theyve got a really nice sound!
 
I love Hofners!

I will own one someday...

I think we've argued this before on here tho. (Pre-Florin, or PF)
