regarding warwick machine heads

hello, I've got a new 2002 warwick streamer LX, its amazing, yet I've noticed that on the machine heads, there isnt a "W Germany" that all warwick machine heads does, and the original owner said that its all original. except for the lack of the writing on the machine heads, they look identical, is this possible or it might have been replaced?
 
What do the back of them actually say?

I have heard that Warwick has been
known to use earlier tuning keys that
may say "West Germany," and I'm sure
that if that happens, it's possible it might
go back further than that as well.

Another possibility is that they were
replaced.

In which case, I would be happy.

I don't know about you or anyone else
here, but I just don't dig on the Warwick
keys as much as I do anything else on it.

I may go with Hipshot + Extender key in
the future.

well, it says nothing, its blank, yet except for that its identical to the other warwick ones, maybe its a miss print happend in a small period when the bass was made? im not sure...anybody have an answer?
 
Old wicks will have "West Germany"
If they've been replaced with Schallers (Same heads, really, just not the ones warwick has custom ordered (With the logo, nothing else is different)
 
Schallers were used in the early days. The newer ones are Gotoh. It looks like they were replaced.
 
hah, look what i've found:

a warwick dolphin for sale, its 2002 as well AND as you notice the pic of the machine heads, theyr'e blank as well! and it doesnt say they have been replaced and its unlikely they have.



you can clearly see its blank. it was 2002 made as well, maybe at a certain point in 2002 they have been implenting blank machine heads and only later they've started putting theyr'e logo on them again?
 
These tuners come in large batches from suppliers.It's not uncommon for this sorta thing to happen.As long as they keep the bass in tune,what does it matter.

I usually tend to agree.

However, I find myself tweaking the
tuning on my Proline more than I have
any other bass I've ever owned.

Hipshot or Schallers in the future.

Maybe the future misses will throw
down for a set for Xmas. :shock:
 
my best bet would be that at a certain point in 2002, there was some small problem that caused for a short period of time to manufacture those without the "W", and it shortly returned after. sounds most resonable theory to me :P
 
They make tuners that are the same as warwick tuners except they are blank on the back.I have a set.Gotoh makes a tuners thats the same but have there name stamped on them.I would say they have been replaced.But you see bass's show up that you didn't even know exsisted.

I'm in contact with the original owner, and he haven't replaced them, they were new from the warwick factory when he bought it...
 
They might have been changed by the store or distributor.If they are original thats cool.Since the bass is pretty new you could get a new set with the W and germay on the back and they will look correct.
