Quick SS1 question

Here I talk about the 5 and 6 strings version with the soapbars

Does the Pickup position is the same as the Ken Smith?

Or is the same as Spector?

Or is it simply not the same as these?

Same as Spector P-J Config for 4-string, only a much better sounding axe imo. (The SS1 that is)

Is the word "growl" the standard replacement for "tone" on the forum?

Not exactly.
Of course, the growl is a part of the tone.
A part that is found in the high mid area, that gives our basses character. Is the part of the bass's tone that you still can hear when you play in a band

I'm not sure what growl is supposed to mean mate. They do sound good though. And play like sumbitches.

I think pickup placement has a lot to do with it, and I know what you mean by "growl".

Both my SSI and my SSII have that characteristic growl in their sound---although the SSII does have a little more of it, which I assume is due to the woods used. But both basses do have a lot of similarities in their tones.
